There has been a changing of the guard on the USC post-game show as Su’a Cravens has moved on and will be replaced by Marqise Lee. It just won’t be the same without Cravens having to listen to first caller “Helen of Troy” after every game. Cravens was good because he didn’t mind giving his opinion, even if it was critical of USC after the … Continue reading A Changing Of Guard On Post-Game Show
It’s game week. Are you getting goosebumps? Noon at the Coliseum on Saturday. Should be a nice, cool, refreshing atmosphere. A huge crowd (lol). Much better than playing Notre Dame in November. Sir Lincoln of Riley certainly thinks so. USC is paying San Jose State $1.4 million to play in Saturday’s game. So that is what it cost to replace the Notre Dame game. Great … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Here Comes The Season!
The Salute to Troy kickoff dinner was Friday night at USC. And for the fifth straight year, Lincoln Riley did not emcee the event. Since at least the mid-1990’s, the USC coach has been the emcee of the dinner. John Robinson used to enjoy it and every coach after him also did it (including Pete Carroll and infamously, Steve Sarkisian). But the point is they … Continue reading USC Sunday Buzz: If You Push Aside Tradition, Then You Need To Win
Last night’s Santa Margarita football game featured QB Fletch Palmer throwing a TD pass to WR Grant Van Raaphorst. Palmer is the son of Santa Margarita coach and ex-USC QB Carson Palmer. Van Raaphorst was the son of former USC QB Mike Van Raaphorst. Carson Palmer and Mike Van Raaphorst were teammates at USC. Some sad news: Ralph Allman, who was a huge supporter of … Continue reading USC Notes: Former Quarterbacks Have Sons Teaming Up
Sophomore defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart is apparently on crutches with a foot injury and expected to be out 3-4 weeks. Remember, Stewart underwent surgery last November for a stress fracture in his foot that bothered him throughout last season. The question now is whether this is going to be a recurring injury and something to be concerned about even after he returns. He was fighting … Continue reading USC Saturday Buzz: A Five-Star Injury
As usual, USC’s roster is full of double numbers or two guys wearing the same jersey number. Meanwhile, not a single player is wearing the once great No. 42. It was worn by Ricky Bell, Pat Cannemela, C.R. Roberts and Ronnie Lott. On second thought, better that no one wears it. I’m not sure anyone would be worthy of its tradition. Eric Musselman bought lunch and matcha for students this … Continue reading If It’s Friday It’s Time For A USC Notes Column
