A college coach already speculated to me that he would not be surprised if USC self-imposed the sanction of not going to the NCAA Tournament if the Trojans lose to Utah this weekend. This would be a way of USC getting ahead of the curve of any future NCAA investigation.
The Trojans are already without De’Anthony Melton and Bennie Boatwright. Chimezie Metu’s status is now under scrutiny. So USC might want to take a hit in an attempt to lessen any potential future penalties.
By the way, athletic director Lynn Swann said recently the Freeh Group had come in and evaluated the basketball program. Guess they missed today’s allegations.
UPDATED: USC says Chimezie Metu’s status for the Utah game is undetermined.
