Wes Bender, a USC fullback in 1991 and 1992, died from an apparent heart attack, according to this report.

Bender played at Burroughs High School in Burbank and Glendale College before he transferred to USC. He gained 59 yards in 17 carries during the 1991 season. Bender gained 64 yards in 25 carries and scored one touchdown in 1992.

It’s the second piece of sad news concerning the early 1990’s USC teams. Defensive end David Webb died last April from cancer.
