USC forward Chimezie Metu is not going to play in tonight’s NIT first-round game against North Carolina-Asheville, according to a member of the basketball program.
I personally find this ridiculous. Metu is not Marvin Bagley. This simply reinforces the image of having a sense of entitlement. He was stripped of his captaincy after delivering a cheap shot to a player earlier this season and suspended for half a game. Last season, while sitting on the bench, Metu tried to trip an opposing player who just took a shot.
Some of you might be saying the NBA doesn’t care. Maybe they don’t. But we are talking about a second-round draft pick. It’s really just another example of Andy Enfield letting players run the program.
NBADraft.net has Metu at the #23 pick of the first round to the Lakers, actually.

Charlie, my friend, where are you? I was only kidding when I said USC would win the first round of the NIT in a thrilling triple overtime! I never thought that they’d actually DO it. [And throw in an extra overtime to boot]!
