USC Morning Buzz: Monday Notes

Now that Sam Darnold is officially a New York Jet, it seems funny to think back to the various reports last year about how he would return to USC for his junior seasons. Or even both seasons.

Now look at the money below.

This is the total values of the guaranteed contracts for the top four quarterbacks taken in the NFL draft:

  1. Baker Mayfield: $32.8 million
  2. Sam Darnold: $30.3 million
  3. Josh Allen: $21.2 million
  4. Josh Rosen: $17.6 million

In other news, former USC football stars Anthony Davis and Charles Phillips signed autographs at a Raiders draft party in Ontario on Friday.

USC’s men’s and women’s track teams swept UCLA in the annual dual meet. The men won, 103-53 while the women won 86-77.

USC’s baseball team lost two of three games to Oregon over the weekend. The Trojans are 7-14 in the Pac-12 (ninth place out of 11 teams) and 19-21 overall.

The No. 1-ranked USC women’s water polo team beat No. 2 Stanford, 13-12, in overtime in Sunday’s MPSF Championship match.

De’Anthony Melton and Chimezie Metu have been invited to the NBA Draft combine.

  1. Coach Hubbs has another non tournament team this year. Every year I have HIGH hopes for the baseball team just to be let down. Is it the coaching or players or both? It is simply a shame to see a program go beyond the depths of insignificance.

    1. Really ? Iron Head Low IQ Garrett fired the only coach to win an NC at USC since what, 1978 ?

Private schools can win, they have to have a coach who can find and DEVELOP diamonds in the rough, the current staff can’t do that.

Now, with Swann recent hires, do you have any confidence that he will
      1. Fire Hubbs
      2. Hire someone with previous coaching experience
      3. Hire someone who coached at a DIV 1 school ?
