USC Morning Buzz

I’ve heard as many as three wide receivers from Mater Dei were suspended for last week’s game. Does that excuse quarterback Bryce Young‘s passing performance? He was 12 of 20 passes for 108 yards with an interception and no touchdowns. He gained 49 yards in six carries.

It should be noted Mater Dei did have five-star receiver Bru McCoy, who had 32 yards receiving in the game. All of the receivers should be playing when Mater Dei faces Bishop Gorman on Friday.

  • Linebacker Cameron Smith was a second-team member of the Associated Press preseason All-American team.
  • A USC coach tells me USC quarterback JT Daniels thinks Ajene Harris is the toughest cornerback to face in practices.

  1. Thanks for the update on Young, Scott. Very fair minded. [I’d love to know what the rest of the third sentence in paragraph #1 said]………

  2. I bet that cornerbacks Iman Marshall & Isaiah Langley are thrilled to hear that J. T. thinks Nickelback Ajene Harris is the only guy he has to worry about.

    1. Hey Michael, normally I’d look to Scotty for info on the “baby qb”, but since David Sills has become somewhat successful, Scott won’t share updates any longer.. congrats to the kid for making the preseason all-American list!!

But I bet if he’s arrested, we’ll hear all about it..
