USC Morning Buzz

Remember wide receiver Randal Grimes?

He was supposed to compete for playing time this season but has made about as much impact as Josh and Daniel Imatorbhebhe.

Grimes was relegated Tuesday to pretending to be Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault.

And he caught two long TD passes in the practice. It still won’t get enough to get on the field.

  1. Helton and his staff may be too timid to put in guys who haven’t been proven in actual games, but how can they prove themselves without playing? With the kind of depth the team now has, Helton should take more chances by employing more players, which should promote more competition within the team as well. But you know what? It may be too late for Helton to change his coaching style. The guy seems to stick to his approaches way too stubbornly even before having learned enough about the job.

  2. I have to blame the offense coordinator for this. Although it is possible he is a poor practice player, I personally believe Martin has so many riches he doesn’t know how manage them.

  3. Martin can’t manage a wet paper bag let alone a team with talent that sc has. You play everyone when the chance is available. You want to see what you have and how to exploit their talent to helping sc.

  4. The only Trojan WR that regularly gets separation from opposing DB’s during games is Amon Ra St. Brown and that’s because Helton’s staff hasn’t coached him up their way yet.
