I mentioned Friday there is increasing speculation that USC is pursuing Rams assistant coach Jedd “the” Fisch.
I will just repeat a couple things: I don’t see how Fisch wants to become part of the Helton swamp while his stock rises as long as he is tied to Rams coach Sean McVay.
The Rams are also losing quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor, who will become the Bengals’ head coach, so Fisch might be able to get that job.
Anything is possible but this doesn’t really seem like a step up for Fisch to be Clay Helton’s sidekick.
More importantly, it would signal the Air Raid era at USC is dead? So USC never had any real philosophy to commit to the Air Raid other than the year it expected to keep Kliff Kingsbury, which turned out to be 31 days.
This is what happens when you have no philosophy or plan. You just jump around to different offenses and hope you get lucky. Sort of like when USC lucked into Sam Darnold being a once-in-a-generation talent.
“This is what happens when you have no philosophy or plan. You just jump around to different offenses and hope you get lucky.”
No lies detected.

Clay Helton has never had an offensive philosophy, but his recruiting reflects finesse football. Either the talent level has slipped in the trenches, or he’s not developing it, because he’s struggling to rectify the problem going into his forth season.

We’re about to enter a lame duck season and it’s January….hopefully by the time this nightmare ends in November 2019, we’ll have a new school President and AD. Right now, that’s the absolute best we can hope for. Let Clay call the plays and maybe the nightmare ends sooner after a few blowout losses.

As long as we’re ‘hoping’, Harry, couldn’t we be given permission to hope for a new president, new A. D. and new football coach in time for spring practice?

Effective leadership is proactive and communicative with the people who comprise their organizations. When there is an absence of proactive activity coupled with little or no communication, the personnel working for the entity, and/or anyone affiliated, will begin to develop doubt, as well as, become insecure. The doubt and speculation are negatives for the environment of the entity. And if these negatives persist, then what normally occurs is a turnover and departure of personnel. And in the case of a university, the negatives that the institution is beset with may have a negative impact on number of potential students applying for admission, as well as, an increase of transfers to other institutions of higher education. Lastly, if the negatives involve any athletic programs, eg., football, then the sales of season tickets and robust attendance might be reduced substantially.
My guess is the SC leadership and administration are all cognizant of the above-mentioned points. Because they have been somewhat mum over the past several months, I’m afraid that the doubt and speculation will increase like a snowball rolling down a skislope. Hoping we hear something positive soon.

In order to retain it’s over the top value, our friend Scott needs to up the description of Sam Darnold to “Once a Millennium Talent.”

Clay Helton’s plan is to sign as many 4 & 5 star WR’s as he can every year. Every year it’s the same thing with this clown Clay Helton, he has a flag football coaching mentality and remains totally clueless.

I think it’s really important that Clay sticks to his guns on the flag football approach to big time college football —-right up to the point he gets fired.
