USC Still Paying Tee Martin

You want to talk about Lynn Swann’s ineptness?

He is going to pay Tee Martin for two more seasons!

Martin signed a two-year deal worth $450,000 per season at Tennessee, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel. That money will be deducted from what USC owes Martin the next two years. Sources told me he made around $1 million per season at USC as offensive coordinator.

But why did he need a three-year deal from USC after last season? Clancy Pendergast also got a multi-year deal. It all makes so little sense.

  1. 1 mil will buy you a lot of hope and prayer jump ball/fade routes on 1st and 10, 2nd and 10, and 3rd and 15 (after lobadon false start). What a sham!

      1. Pudly –How does a person keep falling up? Easy Peasy! Ask a certain candidate who was an average prosecutor, then an average D.A., and then an average Attorney General and thinks that this qualifies her for the Presidency of the United States….(I know we all promised to stay away from politics just 8 hours ago, but I couldn’t resist) —

Did we? (Agree that politics is off the table?) I just don’t like it when somebody responds to my politics-free posts with political posts. I believe in the first amendment, so there. I just politely asked that people don’t throw it in my face. In fact, I had a question:
What does “Make America Great Again” mean to you? If it only means for the betterment of the country, I’m all for it. However, it if implies that taking us back to a Pre-Civiil rights era where racism was rampant is better, then…. I’m not feeling it.

  3. If a figurehead coordinator can demand one million dollars a year, then what is a legitimate one worth? Clay Helton, and Tee Martin had the best offensive talent in the PAC 12 , and couldn’t do anything with it, so I’m not surprised Martin wasn’t in demand, and doesn’t really have a defined title on the Tennessee coaching staff.

  4. And now, when Helton is (hopefully) fires next season the school will probably have to pay the remaining salary on whomever Eventually agrees to be OC.

  5. These coaches are getting paid entirely too much!!!! That is what National Championship Assistant Coaches should be getting paid.

  6. And these coaches once they sign these rediculous contract’s just slack off because they know that no matter what they are going to get paid even when they get fired.

  7. As a public employee, I am going to say something that goes totally against what I feel is appropriate to my profession: These assistants should be paid according to their performance. Martin may have indeed earned his pay by virtue of his recruiting ability and accomplishments. I still think he is getting paid an awful lot of mula though.
