USC baseball coach Dan Hubbs got ejected in the second inning of last night’s game vs. UC Irvine and should have three games left in his Trojan career.
But don’t get your hopes up that USC will hire a big-time replacement. Since Lynn Swann is the direct supervisor for the golf programs (one of his few hands-on duties), what did he do when Andrea Gaston left USC last year after winning three NCAA titles?
He simply promoted then-32-year-old assistant coach Justin Silverstein. The No. 1-ranked USC women’s golf team lost to Arizona in the NCAA quarterfinals yesterday.
Will USC spend money to hire a baseball coach? Maybe. But if it does, it will buck its recent history.
Give Swann enough rope and he’ll hang himself with all his stupid antics and decisions.

We already gave him that much rope last year—-and he did all that stuff you mentioned —what more can he do?

USC is such a freaking mess. The administration is such a case study of rampant incompetence as well as avarice.

I will be surprised if Hubbs get fired for a few reasons: Who in the right mind would want to work for Swann? SC is cheap in paying their coaches. Swann just extended a $18 million dollar contract to someone who has proved that they earn it. Swann doesn’t have enough time to fire and hire someone when a round of golf is needed to be played.

Swann should fire himself first, and let a new AD find a decent Coach.
Know that is dreaming of course. Sure a # of real good asst.’s waiting
in the wings to get a chance to manage a former high profile program.
Good bye and good luck to Hubbs on his next endeavor far away from
Dedeaux Field.
