Afternoon Notes: Which Direction Is USC Going?

What does it say when you are in your fourth full season as head coach and you are not in the AP Preseason Top 25 poll?

The preseasons polls can obviously be wrong. USC was ranked No. 1 in 2012, after all.

But it at least tells you something about where a program if it cannot be listed among the top 25 teams. Especially when Helton’s first three teams were ranked in the preseason poll.

  • Former USC safety Ykili Ross has transferred to UTEP.
  • Some people at USC tell me the Coliseum crowd was no more than 4,000. It definitely was not the announced 10,000.

  2. Until this football program gets new Competent leadership (Both AD and HC)and Quality Assistant Coaches, SC will be a non event embarrassment!
    First time since 2001 the USC wasn’t ranked pre season,
    Reading Helton’s comments about the Fall Showcase Scrimmage, made me want to
    Throw up!!
    Everyone and Everything is Spectacular and
    SC is firing on all cylinders!
    We have 4 great QB’s that could start anywhere!!
    This is just a continuation of last year’s
    pile of BS that Helton falls back on.
    Same script and delivery!!!
    If I were at SC again, I wouldn’t listen to Helton’s adjectives but look out for myself and wait for a new Head Coach that can coach me up to the next level !!

    1. Part of the problem is Senior Associate Athletic Director Steve Lopes. This dude needs to go even before Swann.

No one knows but all agreed not up not with this head coach but hey it could be worse….could be we have an 80 yd practice field and a home stadium 20+ miles EEN in, without a doubt, worst traffic conditions in the entire USA….how about that new scandal of that kid from BC whose mom coughed up $100k to get him into bel-air tech in today;s Times?

  4. Which direction is USC Football going? Bozo Helton took over a team with enough talent to go to back to back major bowl games, and now they aren’t even ranked in the top 25. So if anybody thinks this Trojans program is on the rise, then they’re a goddamn fool. Helton without a doubt, is the Dumbest Coach in the PAC 12, because he has all the resources in the conference, but his program is the embarrassment of West Coast, College Football.

  5. Ed Orgeron wanted the USC job, but Pat Haden knew Orgeron wasn’t going to bend over, and allow him, or anybody else fuck him in the Ass, like Clay Helton does . But guess who’s LSU’s team is ranked #6, and who’s Trojans aren’t even in the top 25? 😂😂.

  7. Watching video from the scrimmage I have wondered where the people were. When they came up a figure of 10k people I knew they were counting tickets purchased before they cut the tour and made it just sorta a game. Either that or 9,000 people were in line at the one concession stand that was open.
