USC Coaches Are Restless

Some of the USC coaches are getting restless for Clay Helton to name a starting QB.

“It’s great to give everyone a chance but we’re less than 2 weeks from the first game,” one offensive coach said.

They are concerned about getting enough reps and the timing between the QB and wide receivers. Obviously, the QB competition is a sham but the coaches just want Helton to make a decision. Or at least make the obvious official, that he wants JT Daniels to start.

  1. I can’t believe that, after the disaster of watching a qb and his receivers on totally different pages last year against Stanford, Helton won’t name the starting qb TODAY.

I feel like I remember a good number of freshman qb’s the past few years who have done incredible things and left no doubt with the staff or the rest of the team who should be the starter. It happened pretty recently at Clemson, and the guy above him realized there was no way he could beat him out, so he transferred.

        It also happened a few years ago at sc. Sam darnold joined the same class as highly touted Ricky town – town transferred after a week.

        And the rest of the freshman qb’s over the past 10 years who have made runs at heismans or cfb playoff bids – they also were starting a new scheme

      4. From the beginning…Helton has made these players regress. They have all dipped in every phase. The Mater Dei toughness was sucked from him because he’s been led by a soft football coach who should really be an Offensive Coordinator at San Jose St. The guy has no buisness being on the field this season. The talent is at USC. JT can win. With Helton that’s a different story.

  4. If they were coached the right way we might have to choose between three Jags…….but………right now all the ford’s on the lot look alike.
    According to all the pumpers Harrell was going to make the choice as his power was so great at the hiring……well what do you know……its Helton deciding…..all we all know what that means.

It sure didn’t take Kingsbury too much more than one meeting with Clay to decide he’d rather die in the NFL than stay at USC —- if Clay doesn’t have the brains to let Harrell call ALL the shots on offense (meaning choosing starters, game planning and play calling), we’ll regret it [& he’ll regret it more]….

Come on I don’t care how bad an NFL team is (and they’re not much worse than AZ or DET) no one is going to pass on an NFK head coaching job over an assistant slot save Steve Sarkisian (remember his turning down Al Davis)….Kingsbury got rid of Rosen fast but he’s still stuck in that ‘oven’ (Maricopa County) and the NFC West version of the NFC North Detroit Lions.

        If we win Harrell gets all the credit and if we lose it all flows to Helton – victory either way

    The entire segment is scripted. All three of these Bozo’s saying exactly what Helton wants them to say, hyping up J.T. Daniels and setting up the offensive line to take the blame when this crap air raid offense goes nowhere.

    They even goes so far as to say that the Trojan RB’s haven’t shown much improvement in practice.

        Who would be dumb enough to pay those idiots for their worthless opinions on football? They were supposedly attending the Trojan practices and yet they can’t remember the details of any of the situations they’re trying to talk about.

        They keep saying, “I think it was this player or maybe it was that player”.

        “Was it so and so who caught that 58 yard TD pass from Fink or maybe it was Sears throwing it to someone else”.

        They don’t know shit!

  7. JT has been hobbled with this faux quarterback competition.He should of been given the first team reps all last week. Fink is too old. Sears too inconsistent and Slovis too green. JT showed during the last scrimmage that he is the one to run Harrells offense he was moving the ball with both short and long passes. he proved himself last year against 3rd ranked Notre Dame and a scrimmage situation.

  8. Those coaches aren’t restless, the entire Trojan football program is being run as a sham and they know it.

    Helton is playing the part as if he were actually holding a legitimate QB competition which he isn’t and never has. J.T. Daniels is going to start, that was the plan all along.

    J.T. Daniels gets most of the reps, he’s always working with the first string offense, Helton is overruling the referees in order to try and make Daniels look good.

    No other football program in the country is as fake and incompetent as the Trojans is being run by Swann and Helton…they’re a laughingstock throughout the college football landscape. CFB fans across the country can’t believe that USC would allow those two clowns Swann and Helton to embarrass USC Football the way they have.

    Helton promised J.T. Daniels father that J.T. would start every year and that is exactly what Helton plans to do, no other QB on the Trojans roster ever had a chance at the starting job…Clay Helton needs to stop lying to those kids and he needs to quit jerking them around.

  10. You can just about put money on the idea that there will be a bounty on Daniels this year by Washington, Oregon, Stanford and Utah…the guy wilts under a hard rush !!!

    1. Yes —but please add Fresno State to that list. You don’t think Tedford’s whole game plan is to go after J. T.? If J. T. passes the test on the 31st, defenses will have to think about doing more than sending 8 players after Daniels every down we have the football….

    2. There will be no bounty on J.T. Daniels head, the opposing teams know they have a better chance at beating USC with J.T. Daniels in the game.

      Teams would much rather see Daniels in the game than they would having to deal with Jack Sears who is the better QB and a big time threat to run.

      Trojan opponents need only apply a little bit of pressure to J.T. Danierls and their secondary can sit back and look for the hail mary’s and floating ducks to leave Daniels hand and wait to pick them off.

      There’s an entire year of game film on J.T. Daniels exposing all his flaws and tendencies…and there are a lot of those.

      Helton isn’t smart enough to know how to go about correcting Daniels mistakes and mechanics. Trojan opponents are licking their chops at the prospect of seeing Daniels as the starter.

    1) Who knew? Dear Pisley subscribes to the Fresno Bee.

    2) Many bozo rah-rah’s and sunshine pumpers are getting their excuses, excuses, excuses ducks in a row prior to SUCCX first home game of 2019.
