USC Injury Report

Cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart (concussion) is questionable for the Utah game. Chris Steele will start in his place.

Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is day-to-day with a sore foot. Cornerback Greg Johnson (concussion) is cleared to play.

Defensive end Christian Rector (ankle) will be a game-time decision. “He’s been medically cleared to practice and play but there’s also a confidence level,” USC coach Clay Helton said. “You’re a 275-pound man leaning on another 300-pounder going full speed, there’s a difference.”

  1. I’m always torn with injury reports. Does this mean we should allow the injury to heal completely or risk aggravation? USC has been known to error on both sides of this question. They sit a player with a splinter in his ass cheeks and run a guy with screw inserted in his toe.
This just seems to be another aspect of bad decisions by the coaches. And at least one player has sued USC for mishandling an injury. Maybe it’s the Doctors they use. The gynecologist Dr. Pokenfun probably should not be diagnosing football injuries.

    1. Talk about erring…Remember Porter Gustin? He played against Texas just days after he received toe surgery, recording two sacks in the first half before reaggravating the injury. He made a brief return against ASU but that was his final time suiting up in 2017.

  2. Both Christian Rector and Amon-Ra Saint Brown WILL play…..because Helton knows he’s sunk without them….

  3. Does anyone else watch the Trojans Live interviews? It was very strange that USC didn’t post all the videos that they normally do the day after. They normally do 3 segments. But, during the Helton interview, posted on USC’s page, which was also finally posted like 2 days later, was cut off midway through. Did someone come out and heckle Clay? I’m curious because it happened last year at The Lab. Anyone else?

    1. “Out of 130 football programs, UCLA’s offense ranks No. 129 nationally, generating 263.3 yards per game. Its passing offense is No. 101, generating 185.3 yards per game. Its scoring offense ranks No. 127 nationally, generating 14 points per game.”

Chip Kelly has gone from scoring 50 points a game (2012) to 14 points a game (2019).

      1. You’re right, 67. And chipster was willing to pay the price to make it all happen.
[I’d like to place a message for James here, 67 —- James has lots of back issues of Sports Illustrated — he needs to immediately (1) make sure that issues covering past Pete Carroll teams are not touching issues covering past Clay Helton teams (maybe put the Helton issues in the backyard —no, maybe just burn the Helton issues and dump the ashes at sea), and (2) he needs to stack the Pete Carroll issues with Phil Steele’s 2019 Football Preview. I think this might bring USC good luck on Friday]……

      2. What’s your point?!!!

As usual ’67 the only point you incite is your pointy cucumber head.

UCLA 34 – SUCCX 27 – Just to refresh your limited memory ’67.

        #Ding goes the Vic Bell.

Utah, the #1 P-12 defense 35 – SUCCX, on the fast track elevator to a 4 – 8 season 10……(If Slovis is lucky not to get hurt.)
