  • USC had 10 men on the field for the extra point. Thanks, Baxter!
  • No one covered the tight end as Utah scores a TD.
  • Matt Fink launches a deep 78-yard pass to Michael Pittman for the TD. And Utah’s secondary again fails to make a play. USC leads, 21-10.
  • Utah fumbles at the USC 3-yard line and Greg Johnson recovers.
  • Why is USC throwing a sideline pass on third-and-1 when Markese Stepp is on the team?
  • Utah gets a field goal and cuts the lead to 14-10.
  • What a horrible call as Utah runs the QB up middle on fourth-and-3. USC stops on downs.
  • End of first quarter: USC 14, Utah 7.
  • Connor Murphy blocks the field goal. USC still up 14-7.
  • Matt Fink escapes a sure sack on a blitz and throws another TD pass. He is the next Sam Darnold!
  • Utah burns Greg Johnson on a 45-yard pass play and then runs it in for a TD. It’s 7-7.
  • Kedon Slovis gets hit hard and it out. But Matt Fink comes in and leads a TD drive with no running plays. Maybe it’s the system and not the QB. USC, 7-0.
  • First, my pick.

I’ve seen Utah lose many times at the Coliseum. The Utes have never won. So the idea of USC winning this game is not far-fetched.

But I don’t know how much USC can put things together under Clay Helton. If Utah is close to last year’s version in physicality, USC has problems.

So with that in mind, I’ll take the Utes, 27-24.

  • Reggie Bush was not impressed some USC players warmed up without T-shirts. He said USC does not look like a team when half the team is not wearing a shirt.

  2. According to sources, Jack Sears is on the field in the coliseum, he is there as a guest of the UTAH team. Sears is looking at Utah as a transfer location!

    1. @Scott .. Stepp gets flagged for the hi-5 with Bush. Would he or any player get that penalty flag if it were to Leinart or Meyer? or any on the sidelines? Why was there even any penalty for that?

      Either Matt or Jack are and have been better for this team with this’O’ line
      Matt would have led them to a victory over BYU …he can run when the field is open ,just like the BYU q/b did.

  12. No way SC wins this game . . . . Fink looks like a 4th string QB, the defense is playing like a Pendergast defense, and Harrell has that same confused look he had at BYU ever since Slovis went out. Helton is just a plain ole jackass . . .

  24. It’s a win. I’ll take it. Just got home and watched the hot on Slovis. The defender put his helmet under Slovis’ chin. Looks like he was trying to break him.

  25. Matt was the answer last yr to a winning season and NOW this yr if allowed to be the starter…so too would Jack be…jt and slovis are not ready with this ‘O’ line …exactly like last yr and this yr. Both Matt and Jack can get out of the way of a ‘D’ line that this SC ‘O’ line can’t dominate…zero yds rushing mean anything? AND they are improved and hopefully more…the ‘D’ was even better, mostly red zone and goal line ,’causing Utah to either fumble or field goals and one of those blocked…even the punter had a better night. You just know Matt will be demoted and slovis the coaches fav will be #1…their egos can’t take being wrong.
