USC Notes: Time For A Pender-Stat

Here is this week’s Clancy Penderstat!

USC’s defense ranks No. 111 in the nation in “Long Scrimmage Plays,” which are plays that go for 10 yards or more. The Trojans have allowed 64. UCLA has allowed 80, which is the most in the country.

  • Clay Helton does not speak to the media on Wednesdays. So who will address the status of QB Kedon Slovis?
  • This is a bit of a surprise. Notre Dame is releasing some tickets for the USC game.

  1. It’s bend but don’t break, so I think the bending is too soft and the not breaking is not hard enough.
Someone pointed out that if they (the defense) allowed a quick score they can get some rest on the sideline. I said that assumes that offense will get together another scoring drive. (Not always a given these days)
Maybe the coaches need to employ the inside the twenty defense earlier because we are stingier inside the twenty. Unless the other team has a running quarterback or a passing quarterback or even a quarterback quarterback.

    1. It is easier to play defense on a smaller field as there is less field to defend and the end zone acts like a sideline which limits space.

  2. It’s very likely that Clay’s decision to keep Pendergast will ultimately cost him his job. Regardless of USC’s offensive production, everybody scores fast and often against the morass of confusion that’s Pendergast’s defense. For this reason alone, better than half the teams on their schedule have a better than average chance of winning.

  3. Strange that ‘the princess’ is releasing tickets for the game against USC on the 12th October. They play VA on Saturday and after that the home schedule is: Bowling Green (5th), VA Tech (2nd Nov.), Navy (16th Nov.) and Boston College (23rd Nov.).

They play no one at home this entire 2019 season that is a draw except USC.

How is it they never have to play a CCG as the other upper tier 64 program do nor as the other lower tier 60 programs do and yet so-called reputable scribes push them whenever they break 0.500.

  4. Where was the AIR RAID.? It is the Air Raid but without the tempo. The four wideouts create the mismatches that the O so desires. The lack of tempo allows the Defense to rest. Once the Defense begins to get more three and outs, the offense will pick up the tempo.

  5. Clancy Pendergast

He’s gonna be in the USC history books as the Defensive Coordinator that was the brains of a Trojan defense that was blown out of the water at Jerry’s world in the season opener against Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide giving up 52 points. LOL!
    &
MUST’VE RETIRED FROM FOOTBALL FOR 7 DEFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE HE STUNK THE STADIUM UP WHEN HIS TEAM ALLOWED 7 TOUCHDOWNS IN A ROW IN THE “2017 ROSE BOWL GAME”
    Seven. The total was 7.
Yeah he let Penn St score 7 Touchdowns on 7 drive opportunities.

The most overrated Defensive Coordinator in CFB.
Why he is still employed at USC is a mystery to me. He sucks.

  6. We really could use a better DC than Clancy but for the amount of money USC is willing to pay, I don’t think that we could get anyone better.
