USC Is Going To Notre Dame When?

USC traditionally flies Thursday afternoon to South Bend for the Notre Dame game. It’s standard procedure for college football teams making a long road trip.

But I’m hearing USC is going to arrive in South Bend on Friday night this week.

That’s quite a risk.

It feels like Clay Helton is almost admitting he doesn’t want to be in Notre Dame any longer than necessary. It’s going to be cold Saturday so USC is going to make a really quick adjustment from warm L.A. to cold South Bend.

Hey, maybe it will work. But like everything, when Helton is involved, expect the worst.

  1. Flow, I’m pretty sure this is old news to a new travel procedure. Wasn’t this a part of the genius plan to save money on extra nights in a hotel, food, bus trips, etc., etc. Seems pretty dumb to me given the historic value of playing at ND and getting the kids adjusted. We shall see…

  2. If the famously wasteful USC Athletic Department is actually cutting trips short to save money on hotel bills, I guess we can forget about footing the bill for Urban Meyer…..

  3. Wow! If this is true, USC Football is hitting new lows. At this point, can the university afford NOT to hire UM?

USC is looking for a head coach to save its once proud football tradition. . . .

  4. Lot of Bugs in South Bend: Clay Helton mouth agape look makes him the perfect fly trap.

I’m setting the Over and under at 2 3/4 the number of Bugs Clay Helton Eats this weekend.

    Two whole ones
One he chews on and spits out

  5. What? Flying on a Friday night for a Saturday game?

Wouldn’t do that with a club volleyball team, let alone an CFB team.

Arriving less than 12 hours before the game is sheer ‘genius’ on the part of Helturd.

Brian Kelly should be thankful for the gift.

Tired and travel-lagged is a great way to arrive for a big football game.

    1. Helton on plane: “Okay, kids, sleep now so you don’t have to nap during the game. We have a big day planned tomorrow.”
