Notre Dame Is Going To Test Air Raid

Brian Kelly sounds like he knows how to stop USC.

“We’ve got to keep the ball in front of us, limit big play,” he said.

If Notre Dame eliminates the deep pass, what does USC have left?

It can try to run but here’s a stat: USC beat Utah with 4 yards rushing and lost to Washington with 212 yards rushing.

Kelly also said USC won’t blitz as much as it did in last year’s game at the Coliseum.

“They had nothing to lose,” he said. “They haven’t been as aggressive this year.”

I would argue USC has nothing to lose tomorrow either.

  • USC is back in the picture with Narbonne defensive tackle Jordan Berry, who was apparently dropped by LSU after committing in February. Berry, a three-star prospect, is expected to visit USC.

  1. Kelly says all of that to the media and then might come out with a totally different defense, only Gomer and Opie would believe what comes out of Tater Tots mouth.

” Gotta keep the ball in front of us, limit the big play ”

What coach wouldn’t say that week in and week out ?

  2. Great optics! We now get Orgeron and LSU’s leftovers. I’m rooting for my Trojans tomorrow, but I am bracing myself for the worst. I get that you support your school and the coaches through thick and thin, but when you go 8-9 in your last 17 games and some of those 8 wins were really ugly wins, it’s hard not to conclude that the team is not at the level of the Princess, Bama, LSU, etc. And that is the Head Coach’s fault.

    1. of course one always hopes for ones team to win…
that doesn’t stop one from objectively analyzing facts and truth…
facts are , truth is …SC no longer competes at this level…they do not practice or prepare for real football the way top 10 teams do, thus they are going to get pounded.

  3. Lovable cliches from football coaches:

They put their pants on one leg at a time, same as us.
(Truth: Yeah, but their pants are 3-sizes bigger than our guys’)

This game with SC is big; of course, all Notre Dame games are big.
(Truth: That game in November against the basketball school Duke is just as big?)

Our guys are emotionally up for this game
(Truth: My wife Corky is very emotional, and she is a lousy football player–[John McKay])

We have a lot of respect for this team
(Truth: Actually, I am much more worried about the upcoming Michigan game than the one with these USC surfer-boy types)

    1. ” SC’s best days are behind them, they’ll never dominate like they once did, so just take the wins as they come and be happy. ”

From InsideLSUblog, aLSU apologist writes, “We don’t need him. He just doesn’t want to compete.”

    1. Or he found out what a shithole Baton Rouge is, not that LA is better but it doesn’t have the heat and humidity, just typhoid, typhus and any other 3rd world disease you can name

  5. If Notre Dame has the athletes to cover the Trojans receivers, then where does USC go? I haven’t watched a Fighting Irish game this season, so I don’t know the type of offense they run. But the bottom line is, who ever wins the line of scrimmage will prevail .
