10 Things USC Needs To Do To Beat Colorado

1.) Trust Kenan Christon

I hope since USC really only has one real tailback that Graham Harrell doesn’t try to throw 50 passes. It would be nice to see a tailback get 20-25 carries in a game.

2.) Prevent injuries

What is the strength program doing this week after all the injuries? For that matter, what is the medical program doing? Maybe they deserve a lot more scrutiny. Something needs to change.

3.) Avoid giving up big plays

Without Drake Jackson and Talanoa Hufanga, USC just needs safe play at those spots. So maybe Clancy Pendergast can resist all the backslapping from Clay Helton for blitzing so much against Arizona and do something to protect his players, like a zone defense perhaps.

USC gets away with these things more often than not simply becuase it plays bad teams.

4.) Cut down on penalties

This falls under Clay Helton‘s purview so it probably won’t get fixed.

5.) Run a trick play

When is the last time USC ran a trick play? Colorado is the perfect time because it gives Oregon something new to worry about.

6.) Shield Clay Helton on the sideline

I don’t know if I can look at another picture of Helton’s clueless sideline gaze during a game.

7.) Don’t look ahead

USC plays Oregon next week. The Trojans cannot think about that game especially given the history of Pac-12 road teams losing on Friday nights.

8.) Make special teams special

USC is not great at returning kickoffs or defending kickoffs. Maybe John Baxter can fix that this week. Stop laughing.

9.) Don’t take selfies

You might not remember this but two years ago, but I do. Some USC players took pictures on the sideline during the fourth quarter while Colorado still had time to make a comeback (which it did). This doesn’t happen at Alabama or Clemson.

10.) Don’t miss tackles

It’s a simple thing but USC does not tackle well because it does not practice tackling very much.

  1. Bottom line, USC can beat a Colorado in their sleep , just like they did with the Arizona Wildcats. Most of the teams in the Pac 12 don’t have the athletes to cover those Trojans receivers. Does that make Clay Helton a great coach? nope! He’s still an inept, football clown 🤡

Scottie, we don’t want to see another clueless gaze of Helton on your blog. We know he is clueless. We know he is the village idiot.

  2. This is really too much work for such an old man. I went to the doctor because my index fingers are sore he said stop writing responses on Wolf’s blog. Anyway I agree with 4 and 5 especially 5. Run a fake punt for god’s sake. You have an Aussie footballer they live on contact, so unless he’s been told one more hit and he’s done run that play!
As for penalties we’d have to play in a different league to avoid stupid penalties because the PAC 12 doesn’t police their refs. We’ll have at least two bogus calls to their none if form holds this week. As for the look on Helton’s face- he has said he gages the quarterback by the look in his eyes. Helton played quarterback-so what does that tell you about his confidence about his job? ( you’ll have to go toTDB to see what else I said about the look – something about a greased up goat in the corner of a lonely farmer’s bedroom)
Gotta go my fingers are bleeding.

  3. 1. Opie won’t do it, neither will Gomer
    2. Prevent injuries ? Don’t know if that’s possible
    3. Clancy Dumbass is the DC, giving up big plays is his specialty
    4. It’s a PAC 12 game, look for 25 penalties for the game
    5. A trick play for Gomer is an end run
    6. You need a circus tent to shield Gomer’s belly and slack jawed face
    7. Oh they’re looking ahead
    8. Special teams are already ” special ”
    9. What’s Gomer’s punishment for a player taking a selfie ?
    10. Don’t practice tackling in practice don’t expect to make them in games

  4. 9.) Don’t take selfies

If USC won that game two years ago, then they should take selfies. It didn’t cost them the game.

Can you imagine Saban being interviewed and asked what will it take to beat LSU and he answers, “We can’t afford to be taking selfie’s.”

    Only sw would write that.
