About a month ago I talked about the Miami Dolphins backfield that 238-pound Larry Csonka as the starting tailback and then brought on Mercury Morris and Jim Kiick for speed.
The Dolphins went 17-0 with those backs. I said this before the emergence of Kenan Christon. USC makes a great comparison with Markese Stepp (Csonka), Christan (Morris) and Vavae Malepeai (Kiick).
The problem is USC hasn’t played 2 of 3 that much. One of the biggest blunders this season has been the mishandling of the backfield. Clay Helton will regret it if it cost him his job.
This coaching staff is awful at evaluating talent.
- Here is the weather in Boulder. I wouldn’t read too much into this picture. It is going to be sunny Friday with a high of 61 degrees although it will be in the 40’s at kickoff. Many of the USC games in Boulder had to have snow shoveled off the field.

There has seldom been snowfall during a home football game in Boulder. In fact, only six times since 1949 has any real snowfall of note occurred during a game. It last happened on Nov. 11, 2000, when it snowed the entire game in a 35-27 loss to Iowa State. It marked the first time snow had fallen during a game in Boulder since 1996 (light snowfall throughout the first half in a 12-0 win over Kansas State on Nov. 16, and just the second time since 1991, when it started snowing lightly late in a 30-24 win over Kansas, also on Nov. 16.

Well if there is snow on the ground there goes the speed running game.
More to the point, why was Kenon Christon red shirted in the first place? He is a player who can win you games even playing only in key spots. It always fascinates me how SC doesn’t want to win? Or what?
