Morning Buzz: Reverend Helton Praises The Victory

Here’s Clay Helton after the USC victory: “Glory to God, we have a bunch of great kids and that was a great college football game.”

And on USC recovering the second Kedon Slovis fumble: “The good Lord was watching over the Trojans tonight.”

  • Helton also praised his coaches again for doing nothing particularly special. Last week, it was Clancy Pendergast‘s “twist game” that flopped the defensive linemen, which is a pretty standard football tactic.
  • Last night, it was time to laud Graham Harrell for having Amon-Ra St. Brown in for a whopping three carries at tailback. “It’s a wrinkle that I thought was really, really intuitive by Graham to put it in this week. It is something that I thought the kids fed off,” Helton said.
  • I’d to love to know what JT Daniels thought of Kedon Slovis‘ performance?

The thing about Slovis is if Colorado recovered those two fumbles everyone would have different perception of how well he played last night.

  3. When a coach has to say his prayers to get a win – and admits it – then it is way beyond time for the guy to go.

    This is a team with top 5 talent, and the guys are willing to go out there every week and get the crap beaten out of them.

    They deserve so much better.

    Carol Folt, pull the trigger while there is still a chance to salvage next year’s recruiting class.

    Don’t tolerate incompetence, and worse, don’t tolerate a coaching staff that leaves the players vulnerable to injury.

Folt isn’t going to fire Gomer, the temporary AD isn’t going to fire Gomer, the BOT isn’t going to fire Gomer, so we’re stuck with him for the rest of the year and maybe beyond since SC can’t seem to get anyone to take the AD job and if they hand it to the moron AD at Villanova you can expect more of the same for USC athletics for years to come since he was the one who lobbied for Sark the Drunk

      1. I agree we are stuck for the regular season. But….. “Glorty to God, hoping that the good Lord is watching over Trojan fans” and that Helton is fired in December.

        This team should be able to compete with any in the country. But lost to BYU and barely beat Colorado.

  7. How self-centered and selfish must someone be who thinks the Lord cares about a stupid football game, let alone your football game. People dying all over, people in real life and death situations, kids being abused, etc…but Gomer and Kedon think the Lord helped them. Unfknreal.
