USC Morning Buzz: Athletic Dept. On Edge

I asked someone who works in the athletic dept. how things are going since new athletic director Mike Bohn took over?

“Everyone is running around scared,” the person said.

It’s probably difficult for some people who are not used to an athletic director who was not a former football player. The scary part is some people there were around the last time that happened (1984).

Where football is concerned, this is why coaches are already putting out feelers for other jobs. I will have an example of this later today.

  • Tight end Jack Yary decomitted from USC because he didn’t know who the coach will be and the offense doesn’t use the tight end. So where will he go? I hear Yary is open but will not go to Stanford, which already has a commitment from tight end Lukas Ungar, who is rated higher by the recruiting services.
  • Former USC wide receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe was named Big Ten co-offensive player of the week after catching four passes for 178 yards with two touchdowns vs. Michigan State.

Imatorbhebhe leads Big Ten wide receivers with nine touchdown receptions.

  • Cal quarterback Chase Garbers has been cleared. The Bears’ starter vs. USC will be named later this week.

    1. Every coaching staff has it’s weak points, karma…. unfortunately our weak points outnumber our strong points by ratio of 300 to 1……

  2. Garbers was ready to go 2 weeks ago —but that didn’t matter to Justin Wilcox. He’s saved Garbers for one game: USC. Apparently our little Justy never got over Scott getting him fired from USC…

  4. anyone else think Harvey Hyde sounds more and more like a “get off my lawn!” old guy now? I still think he has some good insight, but the guy is just cranky.

    He also called plashke and told him to lay off Urban Meyer, that is awesome.

    2. Harvey Hyde loves SC. He told me that he would coach for free if he were to be hired. He wants SC to be the old SC, take on all comers and beat them to a pulp including the fake bama team that is ranked 4th in the nation. They should have dropped to around 9th.
