You know what Clay Helton is producing most recently: Apathy.
USC is going to play in a bowl game and has the Crosstown Rivalry next week, so this is still something about the season that is relevant. But I can’t really find many fans who follow USC football that who really care about that right now.
Earlier in the season, there was anger. But right now, with an athletic director in place, there seems to be a lot of ignoring the on-field product because the season really starts the day after the USC-UCLA game, when the coaching search officially gets underway.
People are almost biding there time until this happen.
Beating ucla is always a big deal, but a loss to them or Kal or both would almost ensure Gomer’s firing.

Who was the AD last year ?

Fire Helton???!!! He is on a short list of active coaches that have won a Rose Bowl Championship! Besides, Helton will lead the Trojans to another Bowl game! There are 50 schools in D1 football who will be going home empty handed! Give Helton the respect he deserves!! We have a good coach and should be grateful for Clay Helton who runs a clean program and soon will lead us to the national championship!
Ya’ll need to get off his back!!

Bohn knows what it feels like to get canned when you are doing your best under the circumstances. Helton created these circumstances and expended all his political capital to stay on this year. He was given most what he asked for. Colorado was an irrelevant program too.
He will let Helton finish out the season as long as there are no more embarrassing losses. I don’t think he will let Helton do the bowl game unless they are Pac 12 champions because of recruiting window for a new coach.
Bohn has to make a smash hire to set the tone for his SC legacy.

I agree! Helton stays!

No he won’t – his ineptitude is what is depth charging the recruitment. The really talanted kids want to have a chance at least the NFK Combine…they aren’t even assured of that if they play for USC under Helton.
Helton has so cratered USC – he’s a well-intentioned back end of a horse.

Finish.
Finish strong.
All great teams and players understand this, & all good coaches preach it.
Over my 50 years we’ve always done so–except for a few Tollner and Hackett years.
It’s about recruiting.
It’s about the Seniors–Especially Michael Pittman.
(I’ll give John Houston the nod also. Not his fault he was placed out of position).
It’s about going into Offseason training & Spring practice.
Seems the worry is that if the Trojan win out and go 9-4, craziness may ensue and CCH and CP will be retained.
Our likely bowl match ups will be tough–Iowa or MIchigan. Maybe Wisky.
If Mike Bohn knows football like we know football, he’ll have a HC in place Nov 24th.

Agreed. The players haven’t given up. Neither should we. If past is prelude, Utah could easily lose another game. It’d be great to have a 2nd shot at Oregon —with at least one veteran running back in our line-up.

Agree on all accounts, MG. I think our 4 RB could slash the Ducks.
(We have to admit that Utah losing is not likely, though.)
At the rematch with Oregon in Santa Clara, might Baxter just kickoff out of bounds and deed the Ducks a 35 yd line start?
(kidding).

Don’t care about some shitty bowl, don’t want to play Oregon again and get murdered, I want that incompetent fucker fired 1 minute after the ucla game win or lose so the new coach, hopefully Meyer, can hit the ground running and recruit some players that aren’t 2 star players.

Budda,
Got to care about beating the scum sucking piece of feces called ugly. We also need Helton to be fired as he is walking up the tunnel.

Yes it does. I care about the games left, but certainly not as much as what’s coming. That’s not a good thing, it would be nice to actually be playing for more than a cheeze it or Alamo bowl invite.

If Gomer loses the last 2 games the bowls you mentioned would be better than what they’ll play in and no way Pittman plays in a bowl game, if he does he’s a fool

If he is any good Bohn has already talked to Urban’s agent. If UM is interested they are working the details. The Trojan football team will have a new coaching announcement the Monday after they beat ucla.

It’s not about the wins and losses anymore with Clay Helton, the fan base is shrinking because they want change. Bozo is in his fourth year, and is still chasing his tail trying to build a team, he has no clue. So I expect Bohn to replace him regardless of the record

Negativity is not the mindset of many longtime season ticket holders I sit with. After 30 years plus I continue to support my alma mater through fire amid bandwagonners. Yes, we strive for the golden years of John McKay, John Robinson and Pete Carroll and I was jumping to the stars in the same endzone we beat Penn St. at the Rose Bowl.
We Trojans demand National Championships, can you say 11 of them to date, and I’m sure Helton’s fate has already been determined, but for the team’s sake, the seniors sake and a final round for CH sake, I truly believe we will FIGHT ON. I look forward to Cal, the ucla game and the Bowl game. It matters !!! Just show up and believe like my section but quit whining and FIGHT ON !!!

I’ll be looking to find your section next year, Tony T!
Sounds like my kind of Trojans!
I’d be interested to know who your group touts as the next HC?
In “the cup is half full category,” nearly the whole starting O and D are returning for 2020, and–while replacing Pittman won’t be easy–we have a lot of young talent in the WR ranks. Seniors Rector, Greg Johnson, and Houston have played hard for 4-5 years and should be recognized. I think we have really solid replacements for them! We have some great assistant coaches. Need a disciplined, charismatic field general.
I met Mike Bohn at a small (20 people) banquet about 7 years ago. Your group will like him!
As always, Tony T, FIGHT ON!

Yeah, claiming REAL USC fans don’t care about the SUCLA game is ridiculous! I don’t care if we’re both 0-11 going into that game, we still care about winning that one. Hell, they only had 2 wins going into it last year and you’d better believe they were into it. It was their bowl game! Shows how much stock you can put in Wolf’s opinions.
