USC Post-Practice Report

If it’s Wednesday, it means Clay Helton does not speak to the media and Clancy Pendergast does. That means slim pickings.

Pendergast said this about the idea of Chase Garbers returning at quarterback for Cal.

“We are really just preparing for their system,” Pendergast said. “Whoever they put out there, we’ll be ready to defend.”

Linebacker Palaie Gaoteote did not practice while safety Talanoa Hufanga practiced but did not participate in contact.

  1. Cal is a very dangerous team. We aren’t going to beat them with finesse. We have to manhandle their offensive line, get lots of sacks and run right at them for 4 quarters…

    1. Michael, Bears offense is not so productive – just over 300 yards per game. Even with Garbers, they may only be 50 yards or so better than that. Perhaps this is a game that Pendergast isn’t embarrassed?

      1. 67 — I hear ya. [But] Cal, when healthy, is an all around dangerous team. And Wilcox would rather die than lose to Helton. We need to be on our toes for this game…

      2. Ha! [Yeah —I guess that wasn’t a very info-rich statement I made — EVERY Pac 12 coach would rather die than lose to Helton]…

      1. Michael, there is a certain panache about Ed’s art that you just don’t find anywhere else. Scottie might want to put him on the payroll.

    1. Ed maybe you should lighten up on Scott. First he hasn’t had a new phone in at least three years. We all know what a disadvantage that can be, but he’s too proud to get a government handout at the Employment Development office.
Also, have you ever tried to write coherently on a moving commuter train?
Most unemployed and elderly people get about on public transportation these days. It is like riding the train at Disneyland. Back in the day a single A ticket would allow you to ride for hours before you rode the E ticket attraction. Old people like the adventure for cheap, so they ride the train.
In short failing eyes, failing phone and moving offices can cause many typing mistakes.
