One of the worst things I heard from a former USC assistant coach today was that Carol Folt and Mike Bohn might retain Clay Helton because they don’t want to be accountable by hiring their own football coach.
Well guess what, if you keep Helton, you own him. Just like Lynn Swann did. The fans won’t give anyone a pass for keeping Helton.
There is no logic here with that remark – when they do hire a coach they WILL be accountable. Get rid of helton….send him over to bel-air tech

Some of us USC fans feel Clay Helton deserves 1 more year to prove himself. I’ve been going to USC Games since I was 3 years old so I. Feel invested in this team (I’m 64 now..)
It’ll cost approximately $22,000,000 to pay off Helton’s contract. With all the lawsuits in the multi-millions that USC has recently paid out for vile teachers, doctors, and presidents that have prayed on innocent people, what is 1 more year to wait?

Pudly — Utah is probably not going anywhere —Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Michigan didn’t do them any favors today. Whittingham’s pregame speech will have to center on, “the playoffs are beyond our reach —let’s win the Pac 12 south.”

Midway through the third and Bama is losing. Even if they don’t lose, and if Utah romps today and beats Oregon (and if Georgia loses), the Utes could be in the playoffs. This scenario isn’t out of the realm.

Lotta football to play yet, MG….though you are correct that Utah will likely “be on the outside looking in” 10 days from now. Their loss to USC is not too bad on the resume, but their only tester in non-con was BYU (7-4). On Tuesday this will be the excuse for not putting a Pac 12 team at #4 or #5–weak non-con schedule. Bama’s schedule was weak, but the SEC always gets the nod due to the perceived conference superiority.
I put Utah ahead of Oklahoma and/or Baylor, though its a race to the bottom between the Big8/12/10 and the Pac 12. Thank you Mario and the Dux.
What if LSU loses in the Champ game next week? The CFP likes to have 2 SEC teams out of the 4. It’s how they roll.

I don’t think so – the issue is two-fold – money owed and Urban Meyer. The latter is not relevant (Not going to happen) if anything scotches this it is what is owed.
Now as to Mike’s ‘Cassandra’ warning per UT.
Clemson, LSUor GA and OH St are locked for three of the four. ‘But’ OK is the one on the bubble no matter how they play out – they have gone 0 – 6 their past 6 efforts in post-season FBS etc..
UT has a very solid chance if they win out ‘BIG’ over CO and convincgly over OR.

It would be nice to see how Utah compares to Ohio State and the SEC teams. Might be a wake up call for the Pac 12.
That said, might be time for the Pac 12 to win a few bowl games and a few marquee non-con games, no?

Helton is undefeated during Bohn’s Tenure. If he makes a change now, my concern is he is not making an independent decision but is just another BOT puppet like Haden. My guess is we will ride with Helton one more year and let the 2020 result dictate his fate.

We’re 7-5 to 8-4 next year if you are correct AND WE KEEP the DC. Next year’s road schedule will present problems for a Helton team.
Plan B is for the splashy DC hire–who is also designated assistant HC (like CP)–who takes our experienced defensive players and schemes/coaches ’em up. That DC needs to teach ball hawking and tackling. A term of the contract must be that HC CH permits tackling in practice. No more two hand touch.

I’m doing it again:
I’m feeling like this bye would’ve been a lot more useful earlier in the season given all the injuries and young talent. Was this a coincidence or more scheduling brilliance?
The team’s immediate future rests in the hands of a 28 point dog today…isn’t that special? These guys are lucky in at least one way that I’m not their coach. Since they decided they wanted to be cheerleaders instead of handling things on the field for themselves, I would have them together so we could watch the game as a team. However, there would be a substantial twist and it wouldn’t be some kind of catered viewing party. I would literally order University of Colorado cheerleading uniforms for the whole team. I’m not talking about the outfits the guy cheerleaders wear either; I’m talking about skirts, pom poms, matching hair ribbons, the little socks and all accessories included. The beauty of it is that unlike most games, even the injured players can dress out and participate with the rest of the team this week. Isn’t that lovely? This isn’t just about wearing a uniform either as I want 100% commitment and buy-in just like any other Saturday. I want to see some high kicks, I want to see that pose where you stand like a flamingo with one pom pom on your hip as you shake the other above your head, I want to see some hair moving, some sweat dripping and I basically want to see you work it girl! F this, if you guys want to sit there and watch men fight to determine your fate, you might as well be wearing skirts anyway. Maybe the memory of Jay Tufele sporting a bare midriff while incidentally offering liberal views up his ill-fitting skirt will keep you guys in the win column. Also, although I would make players and coaches check their phones at the door, don’t think I wouldn’t have a camera running. You guys drop some games next year and get old coach fired, there’s no telling where that footage might end up. Hey, we’re gonna win one way or another, damn it.
With regards to today’s game, I actually have a little bit of Colorado karma working. I grew up with Chad Brown who was a linebacker for the Buffs and later an All Pro with the Steelers. I actually watched my first porno at his house. Also, Eric Bieniemy has/had a little brother and I stole his girlfriend in high school. I didn’t go to the same HS, but I met her through her cousin and pulled her sexy ass. The first time I ever heard the Bieniemy name was out of this girl’s mouth and it was a strange name that stuck with me. (BTW, if this should somehow get back to you, Corey: I’m talking about Nicole D’s fine ass and she was only with you because your mothers were good friends. That’s why you weren’t able to close the deal and why I went ahead and handled that for you.) Further, this summer I also met this dude who I later found out was a teammate on Chad and Bieniemy’s National Championship team at Colorado. Strange stuff, but the football world ends up being a pretty small one. If that’s not enough, I have several good friends in the Denver area, one of which played on Chad’s CIF championship team at John Muir high School. I’m also throwing in the fact that our new AD was at Colorado as well. Since all of that might not be enough, I also got a Tyler Huntley voodoo doll made by a Haitian guy and I’m going to be working it pretty good during the game. If the Buffs pull this game out, clearly I should be given all of the credit because there is no way this team should win. Don’t be surprised if you see Huntley play an uncharacteristically bad game tonight, and if we ever meet as Trojan fans, I expect at least a drink for this. Enjoy the game and Fight the F On!

Alabama was the better team, Clay. It took a lot of screw ups for them to lose. What does this say about Saban? One possible interpretation is that on this particular day his hard work & good luck turned sour…

Here is an original idea…..THE PAC 12 SMELLS……and we can’t seem to beat them. That ought to say it all.
The refs are horrible and biased……the coaching mediocre……the play is sub par. The half filled, under sized stadiums reflect fans and admin that does not give a shit. The undisciplined actions are numerous. The TV contract and game schedules stink. Travel is to distant out of the way places that have different weather. Most 5 star recruits play east of the big river.
Oregon had the playoffs in their hands and goes to Arizona and looks like a high school team. Utah which has a chance is making Colorado look like Ohio State…..AT HOME. USC is managed by a bunch of entitled wine drinking cheese cutting fruits.
What a crap conference.
There……I feel better. Can’t wait for our big holiday bowl date against some loser team from no where.

The fact that keeping 9 Lives Helton is even in the conversation shows the pathetic level our once great University has sunken to. 9 Lives should have been fired: After UCLA loss 2018, after Notre Dame loss 2018, after the season 2018 with no bowl, after BYU, Oregon, Notre Dame losses this year. Incredible he is still in the conversation.
