More than a few readers wondered how solid Jaylin Smith’s commitment to USC is after reading an interview with 247Sports.
Smith said his commitment was firm but he wanted to visit other schools.
“Yeah like I said, I’ve never seen any other schools outside of USC,” Smith said. “I really want to experience that and have that opportunity to visit some other places and the coaches at ‘SC have said they’re fine with that.
“I want to get out to the South and see Alabama and Clemson and then out West, I want to see Washington and Oregon. I want to visit Texas too and of course I’ll be up at ‘SC all the time and will try and go to as many of their games as I can. I think it will be fun to see some other places to have something to compare to ‘SC but I feel really good about my commitment and like I said, ‘SC is home for me.”
Remember what Lane Kiffin used to say at USC, commitments mean nothing.
- USC hired Houston director of video Alex Nederhoff as a football video and systems specialist.
He has been at Houston since 2015 and worked there with USC defensive coordinator Todd Orlando and safeties coach Craig Naivar.
- USC women’s basketball player Stephanie Watts, who played three years at North Carolina before transferring here last year, has decided to transfer back and play for the Tar Heels after being granted a sixth year of eligibility. Watts averaged 10 points a game at USC but only played four games because of an injury.
