Larry Scott Says Pac-12 Has Four Plans Ready For Football

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott spoke to the San Jose Mercury News today and said there are four scenarios on the table for this season:

  • Playing all 12 games as scheduled
  • A delayed start
  • Conference-only schedules
  • Moving the season to the spring

Scott’s view on whether there is a season has changed because of the recent outbreaks of COVID-19.

“I was cautiously optimisti,” Scott said. “But the last couple weeks have changed everyone’s outlook because of the extent to which restarting the economy and loosening restrictions has led to significant outbreaks.

“I still want to be cautiously optimistic, but if there’s no change in society’s response and behavior, which results in a quick flattening of the curve and a decrease in the spread of the virus, that would lead to a much more pessimistic view about our campuses being able to open and our ability to play college sports.”

    1. I don’t want my Trojans to play Alabama, because they would get embarrassed on national television. So I’m hoping we just play a conference schedule only, and that might save Clay Helton’s job .

    1. ON THIS DATE IN USC T&F HISTORY…July 2, 2016: Adoree’ Jackson went 25-10.75w in his final jump to move from 15th to 10th & reach the LJ finals at the USA Olympic Trials. He would finish 10th the next day. Jackson was drafted in the 1st round of the 2017 NFL Draft by Tennessee. But I’m not sure how he got a contract extension though, because he’s an average NFL player at best, not physical at all. Anyway.. Fight On Fellas ✌️🌈. 😘

        A Henry Ford Health System study shows the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine helps lower the death rate of COVID-19 patients, the Detroit-based health system said Thursday.

        Officials with the Michigan health system said the study found the drug “significantly” decreased the death rate of patients involved in the analysis.

        The study analyzed 2,541 patients hospitalized among the system’s six hospitals between March 10 and May 2 and found 13% of those treated with hydroxychloroquine died while 26% of those who did not receive the drug died.

  7. Larry Scott must have been at the annual cub scout spaghetti dinner because leads by throwing pasta on the wall to see what sticks. The only plan that he didn’t mention was his super secret plan, which is to hide in the second story of a two story port-a-potty until a real commissioner makes a sensible decision. Then announce that’s what he planned all along. Moving the schedule to spring would require every conference to agree to move, unless it is PAC 12 only which would exclude the PAC from national contention. So the best plan is to give Larry a bucket of balls and racquet in a round room and tell him not to come out until he has put one ball in each corner.
