USC Women’s Basketball Adds Seventh Transfer

USC women’s basketball has added its seventh transfer: Okako Adika, a 6-foot guard/forward from TCU.

Adika averaged 10.1 points and 5.0 rebounds last season. She also played one season at Butler so USC is her third school.

REACTION: It’s really going to be interesting to see how a team with seven transfers gels together in a conference as tough as the Pac-12. Also, no real freshmen coming in to make an impact.

USC has seven transfers (Taylor Bigby, Rokia Doumbia, Destiny Littleton, Koi Love, Kadi Sissoko and Kayla Williams) and a lone freshman (Aaliyah Gayles), who at the moment is recovering after being shot at a party in Las Vegas.

Is this a sustainable model for the program?

  1. I said at the time Gottlieb peaked in Year 2 at Cal (8 years at Cal). Maybe Sosna does deserve all the credit for Riley and other improvements in the program!? Counter Sosna and fire Bohn!

    1. Being an NFL executive is better than being a USC executive, unless it’s the Detroit Lions. The USC football program is set on a course of greatness. Even if it’s less money, that’s where you want to be. Throw a bunch of money at Bohn to go away.

    2. Sosna said he decided to jump to the NFL when he saw Mike Bohn’s screaming, cross-eyed “Fight On!” video…..

  2. Very few people care about women’s basketball. The women are slow and weak relative to the men. A good male high school team would beat the USC college team by 30 points. I bet virtually nobody on this board is a season ticket holder for women’s basketball. But it is politically correct to report on it, pay a coach 1,000,000 to coach it, and pretend that it is important and equally entertaining with men’s basketball. Let it die and transfer the funds to intramural sports or some other sports activity. I like women’ golf, tennis, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, and track but the entertainment value of these sports doesn’t translate to basketball. If the university acted like a business without the burden of title nine, it would abandon the sport. Admit that this is the truth or show me your ticket stubs.

    1. I agree with everything you said(and it was well stated). My question is why is it promoted so much in the media. They keep showing it on TV even though the ratings are horrible. If you want to compare women to men watch, in track, where they sometime have mixed men/women relays. I saw one where on the final 400 meters of the 4 by 400 meter relay there was one team that had a woman running anchor and the rest of the runners were men. The woman had a 100 meter lead over everybody else when she got the baton. She ended up finishing last as all the men went by her like she was standing still. It’s no different in basketball.

      1. Thank you George. If my father who I loved dearly were still alive he would be about your age. He informed my thinking more than anyone else and I think about him every day. I lost him 12 years ago. When you make a comment, I invariably think of him because he is of your generation and experience although I cannot imagine him typing on a cell phone.

  3. Parcelman said “I’d rather watch boys high school basketball.” That is precisely my point. So would 99.9% of the population. Why do we continue to support something that nobody deems entertaining or relevant. Because those in power want to foist it on us and frankly I am tired of it. Let our thoughts and actions be governed by the truth.
