Here’s a shocker. USC just got a commitment from a wide receiver.
Well, maybe a bit of a shocker, because it’s a three-star: Ja’Kobi Lane of Mesa, Ariz., chose USC over Oregon, the Arizona schools and Kansas State.
Lane is 6-foot-5, which is intriguing.
Unrelated to this commitment, it will be interesting to see how many commitments stick or if Lincoln Riley eventually drops anyone. Clay Helton had a habit of dropping recruits after they committed and Donte Williams has asked recruits to commit without expecting them to actually sign with USC.
It’s something to keep an eye on going forward.
He is a four star on 247, but if Wolf wants to call him a three star, who cares. The kid is tall enough to make a difference. He is the second WR commit for 2023, and a good one.

All the crystal balls had him 100% going to Oregon. That makes it even sweeter.

Every team in college ball drops commits prior to signing. It’s the way recruiting goes. It is why some guys do not announce until signing day.

That’s how that kid coming outta highschool in Oregon did it when he announced he was going to Cal…

Trump is looking at least 9 years maximum. There is more evidence and classified documents, that is not covered by the so called privileges. The man think is above the law. I hope our MG is ready to bring charges.

SC wins another recruiting battle between the trojans and ducks so that’s good. They are starting to compete in these recruiting wars. I also like how they are building up this class slowly, not just taking anyone just because they have a 4 star rating.

Say-hey, Ja’Kobi, welcome to SC, the land where wide-outs come to die
Let’s see– see that kid over there, Addison, well, he is first-string
And then there is Rice, he is second string, maybe;
Over there is third string , and way over there is 4th string.
And you, my man, are 11th string, only 10 Trojans ahead of you

Do we need more 4 star receivers? Don’t we have enough that are ready to contribute right now. Unless they are seeing 4-5 players transferring or declaring for the draft? Ditto transfer candidates Michael Jackson John Jackson Taj Washington Kryon Hudson Ware only Addison Bynum is going pro and Gary Bryant based on what expected draft round if he enters. For the future 2023 I see branch day 1 starter along with M. Williams B. Rice rotational time M. Lemon C. J Williams Hudson Ware Kobi Lane n whoever’s doesn’t transfer or go pro. Let’s go get some real big uglies? Hopefully we can get a couple of late flips per collective deal? Student Body Right n Blvd must partner together in order for major 4 n 5 stars to commit TAM is probably paying these off/definitely lineman in the 1M-2 per player, we must have this going forward to compete in BIG in 2024, or Lincoln Riley experiment will be a big failure. Him Mike Bohn Carol Folt are you listening?

Every season someone complains about all the WR’s. At seasons end most all have gotten PT and contributed, and several have been injured so others cycled in. The number of WR’s does not affect the number of linemen. Look at the offers. They will come when USC shows they have winning ways, just like they used to.

During the season, six to eight recievers will play if not more.

Lincoln Riley’s recruiting is very similar to Clay Helton’s. He likes to build teams from the outside in, as opposed to inside out like what, Nick Saban, and Kirby Smart do. Riley’s a Mike Leach guy, which is why Oklahoma got their ass kicked whenever they went to the playoffs. Lane Kiffin, and Steve Sarkisian didn’t understand the concept of having big physical guys up front, until they worked under Saban . Maybe Riley needs a year or two on the Alabama staff so he can gain an understanding too.

Football coaching is not rocket science– I am sure every coach knows he needs big and capable linemen on both sides of the ball to compete for the top prize.
Problem is, these Big Uglies are a rare commodity. How many teenagers get to be the size required (Under 250 need not apply) and who are motivated to play mean-and-dirty college football?

Wow…I love big and tall wide receivers especially in the red zone.
This new recruit looks like Mike Williams with more speed and quickness. We are getting close folks to opening day for the new era of USC football.
RIP- UCLA FOOTBALL. RIP CHIP KELLY
Once we win the Pac 12 this season OWNS will have no choice but to finally return to Alcatraz.
By the end of the Season our opponents are going to say:
“WHO ARE THOSE GUYS”
( From the great movie no one talks about anymore-Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid).
