USC’s Become Wild West With Its Attire

And now a word about USC uniforms.

It’s basically the Wild West these days for USC when it takes the field.

Raleek Brown in yellow socks. Denis Lynch in white cleats. Some players in gold tights. Some players in black socks. Some players in white socks. Some wearing cardinal long-sleeves shirts.

I don’t want to be the uniform police but USC has an iconic look.

In recent years, the Trojans have worn black socks for some games and white socks for other games. But at least agreed on what everyone is wearing.

Brown wearing yellow socks was disgraceful. Especially when he was the only player doing it. And let’s be honest, what’s he done to merit it?

Remember former USC baseball coach Mike Gillespie’s rule: ”There is a reason it is called a uniform. It means `alike’ ”

      ‘Ol Mule Shoe has completely abandoned the run game even though he has a tremendous RB, Travis Dye, and now he is letting the Ladies of Troy become full blown fashionistas by allowing them to wear fingernail polish and tights (women leggings)

      All the Trojan Greats that have paased on are surely rolling over in their graves.

      A sad time indeed for Trojan Football.

      Maybe now you’ll understand why I have become so cynical and critical of the program. This isn’t your father’s Trojan football, hasn’t been since 2010

  2. When I see this expression of INDIVIDUALISM, it’s just a far cry from team unity. You’re either playing for the team or you’re playing for yourself. IT’s also an indicator that Riley DOES NOT have the locker room. FIGHT ON! (in the same uniforms.)

  3. With the game at the Rose Bowl this year, it remains to be seen if USC will show up in white road unis or will wear their cardinal home jerseys to honor the tradition of the Bruins and Trojans both wearing home unis in the rivalry game.

    Don’t know if Riley knows about that.

    1. I’m not sure why you think Riley wouldn’t know about this. The athletic department should brief him on this and then he could decide against it, though I’m not sure why he’d mess with tradition. And after all, Riley’s Trojans are undefeated in their cardinal jerseys. (Granted, small sample size.)

  4. The kids today are not the kids of yesteryear when it was easier to control them and have them buy-in to the idea of team unity and uniformity in uniform-wear. Wiley apparently doesn’t think it is a big deal that some kids have different colored socks, so if it doesn’t bother him it doesn’t bother me (much, maybe a little)

  8. Somebody tell Sourpuss Sissyphyus that kids will go where they get paid and get to choose their layouts. You make kids take the recruiting pics in the clothes they like but tell them “naw, kid, your wearing the clone outfit” so when he walks out of your campus, you can feel like Joe Paterno and watch some old game film but your not getting the 5 stars with that my way or the highway.

  12. I think that maybe Riley knows he needed to be a little lax on this group, because they have had to come together as a team of transfers and the current players.

    Maybe that team discipline can be next year.

      1. True. They definitely have been disciplined in that sense. They have had penalties but not the kind of penalties that are the result of lack of discipline like the offensive line jumping offsides.

  13. What really disappoints and irritates me is the NIL program. Bohn-head has done everything he could to squelch an outside program. That is just stupid.

    An outside NIL program gives the university an ability to deny responsibility for the seedy side of recruiting. It allows players to get a wink and a nod and a handshake that they will be taken care of by the alumni, and the university can say “what payments?”

    I hear that Auburn is the latest program to decide to go heavy in NIL. That is a promise they make to their new coach, when he arrives.

    So how can USC compete without the money for top talent – they cant! Wake up Bohn-head and Folt-Dolt. If you are going to spend 100 million on your coach, why would you then knee-cap him in getting the best players? USC will not “recruit itself” and even a great coach will lose to $$$$$.

    And there isn’t anyone on this current roster who is equal to those Heisman winners, or Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart or Reggie Bush.

  22. So what should we make of SC’s chances of reaching the Holy Grail’s ‘Final-4 Teams,’
    well, they are in the running if they win out which depends on Oregon beating Utah which should occur inside the Ducks’ mysterious Autzen Stadium confines, but the Trifecta of having to conquer sucla, ND and Oregon in succession is probably not going to happen, especially if a mathematician looked at the odds of each game as being a generous 50-50 proposition which converts to SC having a 1-in-8 chance of bringing the Trifecta home.

    Still, I for one am beside myself with relief and pride knowing that SC is finally back in the conversation of ‘who is the best team’

    1. I don’t believe anyone is as dominant as we’ve seen Bama, Georgia & Clemson in recent years. At the beginning of the year, I didn’t think we’d be Top 10 and based on Utah & Cal, still not sure we are. Our D is just way too porous for being nine games into the season.
