  1. 12th is okay —gotta make room for our Pac12 brothers, Washington and Utah, in the top ten. We play ’em both next year —and we get ’em both at the coli. [And we’ll beat ’em both].
24/7 has USC as the top Pac 12 team for 2023 and 8th in the country.

    1. GEORGIA AND OHIO ST WERE CLEARLY THE TWO BEST TEAMS THIS YEAR

MICHIGAN BEATING OHIO ST WAS AN OUTLIER
HATS OFF TO THE WOLVERINES FOR THAT WIN BUT IT WAS A REAL FLUKE.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2023 ITS GEORGIA OHIO ST AND ALABAMA AS OF NOW

WE NEED A LOT OF HELP FROM THE PORTAL TO GET CLOSE TO THAT GROUP
      BUT SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE

ALL NEW COACHES ON DEFENSE WOULD BE A BIG POSITIVE STEP FOR US BUT IT DOESNT LOOK LIKE ITS GONNA HAPPEN

      1. Alabama was at least #2 after the Bowl games. Handled Kansas St.
convincingly who beat TCU. Go bite some tires you old fart!

  2. Now that college football is over I’ve had time to spend a moment in quiet reflection. Did we all forget to wish Ed. G and the Missus a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year?

  3. We played 5 teams rated in the top 25. I would never have put TCU #2…..not after that massacre. The Pac-12 had 6 teams in the top 25. It was a much tougher conference this year and will probably be tougher next year assuming Stanford, Arizona State, Colorado and Arizona will be better and those 6 that were good this year will be just as good or better next year. Our schedule will certainly be tougher considering that we have to play Oregon and Washington. If LR thinks that he will win on offense alone, we better hope lady luck is on our side all year long.

      2. There is one sense in which Tim is right. There’s an old saying…..”you can’t fall off the floor”……..defensively, we have reached ground level. The only way to go is up.

    1. TCU HAD A GREAT YEAR
WON A BUNCH OF CLOSE GAMES
I WOULD PUT THEM AROUND FIVE OR SIX
BUT IT JUST SHOWS THE GREAT GAP THAT NOW EXISTS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL

      GOING INTO NEXT YEAR
IF WE GET THE RIGHT HELP
WE HAVE JUST AS GOOD A SHOT AS ANYONE TO GET TO NUMBER FOUR
BUT WE DONT HAVE THE TALENT TO CRASH THE TOP THREE
BUT HELL ITS COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND SPIRIT GOES A LONG WAY

    3. It’s pure insanity for TCU to finish at #2. IMO, they do not deserve that type of respect. I am really interested in what Colorado will look like next season. I saw the Yahoo pre-season poll has Colorado at #25.

      1. Colorado won’t be that great next year ….but they will probably notch one big upset…

      2. Because prime time won at a lower level does not mean he will win at the power 5 level. He will definitely draw talented players. But it takes more than just talent to win big at the power five level. Sometimes coaches win big at the lower level because most of the other coaches at that level are not that great but then when they get to the power 5 level and all the other coaches are outstanding coaches, the competition is too great.
A good example is Steve Alford at UCLA in basketball. He started out at Manchester. His first year as a coach he was 30-1. The he moved on to Southwest Missouri State where he brought them to the sweet 16, a great season for a small school like that. But then he went to Iowa and he didn’t do well at all. They were ready to fire him after about 10 years and he was offered the New Mexico job so he took it since he was going to get fired anyhow. When he moved down a step, he did well again. Then he took the UCLA job and he didn’t do well at all.
Prime time may do well at Colorado. All I’m saying is that his success at Jackson State means something but not that much.

  4. It is amazing to me how TCU gets slaughtered 65-7 and they move up one spot(+1) and Tulane needs a miracle from God to beat SC and they move up 5 spots(+5) and SC moves down 4 spots(-4). Something is wrong. That AP poll says Georgia is #1 and everyone else in the country is light years behind them.

      1. They shouldn’t have moved up one after getting beat 65-7. Again, SC was moved down 4 spots because they lost a game by one point in the last seconds….a game that they dominated. What will it take to move TCU down 4 spots?……getting beat 150-0!!!!! Who is making up these rules.

    1. We just got Jarrett Kingston. He’ll play at the next level. He’s a big time O-Lineman. I didn’t think we would get him because Ohio State wanted him bad. The crystal ball says we are going to get Anthony Lucas. He was a 5 star coming out of high schools on the interior D-Line where we really need people.

    1. Memo to: TIREDBUMMER

UCLA FB has never lost to a ’41 pt. ‘dog at home like Little Petey’s bozos have.

      It’s 13 to 9 somewhere on earth.

Only the bozo men’s BB program celebrate humiliating 19 pt. NCAA Tournament defeats with ridiculous, commemorative ring ceremonies.

  6. In sports winning and losing so often depends on a play or two,
and thus the description “Win-Lose Illusion,” although last night was not one of them

And What if– what if the SC game at Utah turned out differently, the Trojans get a different team to play in the Pac-12 Championship so that ‘Celeb’ does not get hurt
SC then plays Michigan in the semis with the winner getting the TCU-Georgia winner

  7. There are now pundits asking if Kirby Smart is a better HC than Saban. The fact he won two straight is a big deal, but not even close to the goat Saban.

  8. Miscellaneous ramblings….

USC ranked #8 in the AFCA Coaches final poll–above a #10 Utah.
I kinda like the coaches over a bunch of Journoes on this one.
Nevertheless, a #8 to #12 is about where this team belongs.

USC, the #2 offense in America is losing Dye and Addison and some linemen. Might not be as great an offense next year, but should be top 5…. I checked on Riley’s stats as OC or HC at OU and USC (per my favorite, FPI) and his offenses have been #1 or #2 half of his years.
He did have a #5 defense during the COVID year.

Finally, we all agree that QB play in the Pac 12 was fantastic in 2022.
    Looking at 2023:
    Utah–Rising is returning
    UW–Pennik is returning
    ORE–Nix is returning
AZ–I assume De Lauria is returning
    ASU–who cares?
UCLA–Chip will develop a really good QB and the Bruins will be sporty by the time they come to the Coli.
CU–We will see if the Sanders kid is that great against power 5 competition.
    Ore State–portal’d DJ Ugialeleleli (sp)

    …and we gots Caleb!

Thanks for a great CFB season, friends.
Not sure I’ll follow hoops with you this year.
Sad that Vince Iwuchukwu won’t be playing for us.
Wishing him a great education at USC and long life as a Trojan alum.
