USC Notes: A Candidate To Take Seriously For A.D.

I’ve seen 20-30 names already mentioned for the USC athletic director’s job in media reports.

One candidate is Tennessee’s Danny White. But he makes $2.31 million a year to live in Knoxville.

What would he need to make at USC? I know Carol Folt just wants it all to go away and hire an uncontroversial athletic director. But how much money will Folt (and Rick Caruso) be willing to spend?

One candidate I would take seriously is Pitt athletic director Heather Lyke. Why? Pitt has employed Huron Consulting Group, which is heavily involved at USC right now, supplying two members of the interim leadership team (Sandy Barbour, Mitch Moser).

  • The final Pac-12 Football Media Day for USC will take place at Resorts World Las Vegas on Friday, July 21.
  • The California Assembly approved, by 41-15 margin, a bill that would give college athletes possible revenue-sharing payments from their schools. USC has lobbied against the bill. It will now advance to the State Senate.

The 41 votes were the minimum required for passage because 24 members did not vote.

  7. Wolf is lazy and has no credible source to put those names out there. They want somebody cheap and those two names are not going to L. A. for less than $2 million. That being said, the Arizona AD would love to escape to L. A. But salary may also be an issue as well as authority and final decision.

    Trump (stupidly) admitted to having the attack plans against Iran. Biden can’t hold his crap together, DeSantis still won’t answer why Florida homeowners pay the highest premiums in the country and it looks like 20 people will run for the Republican nomination.

    I can’t believe that COVID-19 doesn’t seem so bad compared to what’s coming.

        I’d be inclined to support him over Trump or Biden, but he won’t be their nominee.

Watch the first 2 minutes and ten seconds of this you tube and you will see Chris Arledge (a well known USC football prognosticator) say what I’ve been saying all along…..namely, that there are educational elites in the university who don’t want football to succeed at USC and have been fighting the program for a long time now.

        If USC is as ethical & professional as they SHOULD BE, we shouldn’t. Unless it’s something particulaly egregious, we shouldn’t do anything that makes it impossible for him to find other employment, should he choose to do so.

        It’ll be difficult enough, with what’s been hinted at, both at USC and Cincinatti. Neither sounds like things that should keep a man from earning a living, as long as he’s learned from any mistakes he may have made.

My only problem with the university keeping everything silent is that if you don’t devolve why you are firing a guy, then you leave it to peoples imaginations to figure out what happened. Then you end up with stuff like he was having an affair with his secretary or he was propositioning women or he was grabbing women and who knows what else they may imagine. Maybe they should just keep it silent and hope none of those rumors start and if they do(which could ruin his career) then come out and tell what really happened.
