Another Commitment Rolls In For USC

Kameryn Fountain, a 6-foot-6 defensive end from Atlanta, committed to USC this afternoon as the Trojans picked up their fourth commitment from the weekend recruiting visits.

Fountain chose USC over Tennessee and South Carolina. As recently as a week ago, he was predicted to go to Tennessee by analyst Steve Wiltfong of 247.

Now everyone says Fountain is a four-star prospect. So why does Rivals rank him as a three-star recruit? Who is correct?

I’m mentioning it because none of the media fanboys will. They just gobble up the highest-ranking for whoever commits to USC.

Safety Jarvis Boatwright of Clearwater, Fla., also committed. He is a three-star by 247 but a four-star in their composite rankings. Got that?

        Typing with knuckles, perhaps?

  2. Wolf nobody pays attention to the Rivals ratings anymore. Everyone but Wolf goes by the composite ranking. Fountain is a very solid 4 star.

  4. Looking at the recruiting rankings, the schools that have commitments from the difference makers are the usual suspects – Georgia, Ohio State, Alabama.

Oregon is ranked #7, but with 14 recruits, they have only a few guys we would ever want.

I think that USC will lag behind in the number of commitments and hold out to flip some high end guys later, as the season progresses.

  5. A 6′ 6″ Junior in high school is only beginning his growth as a player . It will be interesting to see if he earns more stars in his senior season. (Or if he’ll still be committed to the Trojans in 6 months

  6. Depends on what Tennessee can offer in terms of cash. I’m a schoolteacher now? Scott just needs meds because he questions the staff about players when there are no guarantees about who will sink or who swims and succeeds. I mean it’s only a championship on the line, right?

  8. Scooter,

The de from Atlanta is huge for junior. By the time he is a junior at SC, he will have added 20 lbs making him 257 lbs at 6’5″. If he has speed, he could be deadly. Let us see if the coaches can coach him up though.
