The biggest commitment for USC this week was cornerback Dakoda Fields of Serra High School in Gardena. He’s an athletic 6-foot-2 cornerback, which USC can always use.
He wasn’t exactly a slam dunk for USC either.
A Serra assistant coach told me this week Fields wanted to commit to Oregon and nearly did during a recent unofficial visit.
“(Fields) wanted to go to Oregon but his family wants him to go to USC,” the Serra coach said. “He was ready to commit (to Oregon) but the family won out.”
So let’s not give Donte Williams the credit for this one. Or, to be fair, even Lincoln Riley.
This is one of the many times USC gets a commitment mainly because of its location and tradition.

Interesting that Fields remarked in the last couple of days how excited he is to build the USC recruiting class of 2024, how his official visit to USC eliminated any doubts he had, how fired up he is to be have the opportunities of a USC education and being in LA, and that he can’t wait to get on campus.

He is a young man that barley shaves let alone drive. However, it is not the commitment that makes him a player, it is the play on the field that he does, which will make or break him as a player

i think oregon has one more year before players start to smell the manure coming out of the coaches’ mouths. no Big 10. no quality degree. no future if you dont happen to get into the NFL and stay healthy in the NFL. how many people will see them play on that streaming service?
and wait for SC to beat Oregon and everyone else in the Pac-12 this year. i see USC being a late bloomer in the recruiting rankings.
