College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock will retire when his contract expires Feb. 1, 2025. Hancock has been the director of the CFP or BCS since 2009.
REACTION: Good riddance. This guy constantly railed against a playoff when he was executive director of the BCS and then did a complete about face to work for the CFP.
“College football has the best regular season of any sport, and the lack of a playoff is one big reason why,” Hancock wrote in 2010.
And then after the College Football Playoff was created, Hancock said this in 2013.
“The event is very simple — the top 4 teams will play in a semifinal … Let’s settle it on the field once and for all.”

The football playoffs are continuing for two more seasons with the Clay Helton of football playoffs. (That’s the subject of the blog right?)
In all of the responses neither Trump not Biden has offered a remedy for the situation. According to Gabby (take a number) the fact that Scott mentioned what the director of the bowl championship series said against playoffs before he became the chairman of the playoffs isn’t relevant.
IMHO it speaks volumes to the guy’s priorities. If the playoffs made college football bad, then he’s self predicted the doom of the playoffs. Again it’s my opinion that the BCS was the worst system for choosing a champion. It took opinions of sports writers and totally unbiased coaches and a computer to pick a winner. Now teams have to win on the field.
