USC Saturday Buzz: A Tradition Returns With A Catch

I’m hearing the Salute to Troy football kickoff event is scheduled for August 18th.

The good news is it is back in its traditional month (August) after Lincoln Riley held last year’s event in June because he wanted to combine it with a big recruiting weekend. That meant flying Marcus Allen out to the event, but he and the current Trojans spent more time at the Coliseum with the recruits instead of interacting with the fans who were on campus, which is an advertised highlight of the event.

The bad news is the Salute to Troy is scheduled for a Friday. Who does that? If you work, it will be hard to get there with your family. This is a supposed to be a fan-friendly event and it starts around 6 p.m. on a Friday! Good luck!

Let’s hope the food is better too. For years, it was catered by a restaurant owner and it was great. But USC botched that deal and last year and had the university provide hamburgers, hot dogs and low-quality ribs.

  • USC president Carol Folt is in Taiwan. Maybe she is raising some money for her athletics “moonshot” of the football performance center and new Dedeaux Field.

  1. Folt had better be ready to ‘book’ should the PROC make a move and attack Taiwan what with the chaos of civil war descending upon the former CCCP and the long overdue investigation per Baby Hunter and Poppa Joey.

Inside USC is like all good fairy tales, George —it has its heroes & its [very] evil villains.

  2. If ‘Without-a-Folt’ is trying to broker a deal between Red China and Taiwan prepare for World War 3

And so ‘Salute to Troy” is wedged into a Friday evening with cheap ribs and ‘dogs on tap. Wolf sure knows how to sell all things USC

      1. The Donald said “the pandemic is a hoax.” You Commie Lush , have a smaller, vodka pickled brain, than the Donald.

It seems AH, your #1 hero, that POS Vaddy Putain, has got a hisself insurrection/who’s on first, problem.

Recurring Commie Lush dipso dream: Lush is the meat in a sex sandwich betwixt The Donald and The Putain…tickle, tickle, tickle.

      2. And dementia man claimed to have a plan to beat it. More than 700K have died ” on his watch”. According to the standard HE SET (220K), he should not be President.

  3. They did serve chicken at least. It cost $80 per person. What will it be this
year? Sam King used to provide the food from “Kings Restaurant” here in the SFV
( Calabasas ) and other locations. Being retired time is not a factor.

  4. Maybe Folt is in Taiwan to buy awards for the hall of fame. And there will be a ballot for said hall at the salute.
How’s that for a good spin on the whole article?

  6. I’m been to the event at least 15 times over the years and the food last year wasn’t any better or worse than previous years. It’s always been mediocre at best

  7. People don’t go to the event for the food anyway. Food is served to try to keep the crowd reasonably sober. Sark failed that one.
