USC Morning Buzz: Do Important Decisions Get Farmed Out?

Who’s in charge at USC these days?

It seems like an easy question. But if something required an important decision to be made, who would do it?

The recent model was Coach Bohn was in charge and then farmed out decisions to Brandon Sosna. After Sosna left, there were some other Cincinnati refugees Bohn relied on but they didn’t have the pull of Sosna.

Now? Interim athletic director Denise Kwok is in charge, which is fine. But if something important happens, it seems like Carol Folt’s office will be the ones to decide what happens. And they have that weird committee with former Cal athletic director Sandy Barbour to bounce decisions off.

It feels very bureaucratic. When a new A.D. gets hired, it will be interesting to see how much power they wield. After the Bohn debacle, Folt might want her people to be more involved to avoid any more “issues.”

      1. In a sense, everything about Mike during his brief stay at USC—his voice, personality, cardinal pants and gold blazer—-was “farmed” out.

      1. Too slow? He ran 100 meters in 11 seconds when he was 14. He has offers from every SEC team, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, etc. But hey, what does Saban and Kirby Smart know.

  1. If the administration is going to hire an ideal AD., they must be able to allow NIL to be a major focus moving forward. Nagivate a plan to restore the once proud university from scandals notably Bohn leftovers who are still in charge in some capacity. Hopefully it will be someone with integrity and moral values. Folt the clock is ticking now it’s time to make a decision before the season starts so they be able to evaluate the culture in the football program.

    1. I think NIL is already getting solved with a handful of collectives managed by very qualified businesspeople. We are still lagging a bit behind, but this is no longer a main recruiting drawback. There might be a few cases where a large bag of cash from a handful of places can flip recruits, but it will be infrequent.

    1. So you’re not just gay, but also really dumb? How many times does it take the dumb queer, Tebowobama, to post the same stupid comment before it actually posts it correctly? Or do you just not see what you are writing because you still have your boyfriend’s jizz in your eye?

  2. Scooter,

The AD department has the stench of the midget Colt, Dolt, and Folt. She wants control of the department and she wants it to lean way left and she wants her claws in it. Not good.

  3. Rick Moranis’ character Howard Gross in the movie Head Office said it best: “I didn’t make that decision. I approved someone else’s decision. Don’t you know the difference between making a decision and approving a decision?”
