USC Morning Buzz: A Crazy June Continues

USC has amassed 12 commitments in June and a 13th is on the way as Lincoln Riley tweeted another emoji Tuesday to signal another commitment.

June is a crazy month. Washington had five commitments on Monday. UCLA’s been pretty quiet with eight total commitments for the Class of 2024.

  • It’s the job of any football support staff to promote its program. But can someone tell me how the tweet below makes sense? Who has Donte Williams sent to the NFL?

Two cornerbacks has been drafted from USC since Williams joined the program: Iman Marshall and Mekhi Blackmon. Marshall spent three years with the Baltimore Ravens before being released. He was hurt most of the time and made three appearances. Blackmon spent one season at USC but was a highly regarded cornerback at Colorado before he transferred to USC, so to credit Williams for his pro career is silly.

  1. They could use another interior D-Lineman. There’s one out there and he wants to come to SC……Deyvid Palepale. We can’t lose this guy. He’s a beast.

      4. That picture that they show in the web address you sent was taken when he was 15 years old. Now does that look like a 15 year old. He looks like he is 30 in that picture. Also the highlights in that video were from when he was a sophomore. Check out the highlights from one year later when he was a junior. The growth is unreal.

  2. Why CLR kept Donte Williams on the staff is beyond me. Everyone says what a great recruiter he is, well my grandmother could be a great recruiter at a school like USC. Recruiting is 95% being a good bullshitter and that’s what Williams is. Throw in the fact that he’s a shit position coach and again, you’ve got to ask yourself why the hell does CLR keep him around.

    2. Every team has to have their one high pressure salesman. Oregon has a handful of salesmen. The rest of the staff cover for his coaching shortcomings and Donte is great friends with the young players. All part of the game.

  5. Wolfe news flash: DW is securing relationship with these kind D’s as young as 12 yrs old that show’s he cares about them as a person. Every recruiter shoots the same shit. What it’s coming to is NIL $$$, education, and USC alumni setting them up with great jobs after playing days are over. How many former USC players are on TV, Keyshawn, Lisa Leslie ,Sua Cravens. C my point.

  8. Agree with Scott. Biggie Marshall reminds me a lot of all Helton recruits…3-4 years playing at SC and not much better than when they originally stepped on campus. Donte hasn’t done much for the DBs once they are under his tutelage.
