USC and Texas A&M keep butting heads as the Trojans aggressively recruit the Lone Star State.
Four-star linebacker Tyanthony Smith committed to Texas A&M on Friday but told On3 that he had silently committed to USC.
“I told (defensive coordinator D.J.) Durkin I silently committed to USC and he looked me and my eyes and said, ‘I don’t care. We’re still going to recruit you.’ Once he said that I knew that it was time,” Smith said.
USC and Texas A&M are pretty close in recruiting right now. The Trojans’ class is ranked 10th by Rivals with a 3.69 average star ranking while the Aggies are 14th with a 3.71 average star ranking.
They competed over four recruits this week and there’s going to be more battles before December’s first Signing Day.

What a lot of kids realize is what that they know what is in the bag. TAM is spending like crazy and again they are going to have a class that falls apart. USC has a class that continues to get tighter. The smart ones realize that.

Agree with CR. TAM and Oklahoma are going to lose a lot of recruits after a bad year. A commitment means very little. I think USC ends up with Tatum, the running back who is leaning toward Oklahoma and Miller the WR and Smith the LB who are committed to TAM.

We need to be focusing on bodies in the trenches. What separates the SEC from the rest is their strength and athleticism at the line of scrimmage. If you can’t match that you won’t be competitive. Clemson won a few Nattys because they had 1st round NFL bodies across both sides of the line scrimmage.

TAM is lower tier SEC school, they just throw bags of $$$$ at recruits n then they transfer after one season Miller, Smith, and Lockhart will be leaving . Most of the kids are just looking for who is going to pay the most forget about the university. The way SC is looking at it they are saving spots for late big time flips to complete it’s class. Why is everyone think we are going to fall flat on our face when we go to the big? We will own the Big look at our record against the Big teams. In court cases all you have to do is present evidence beyond a reasonable doubt. If anybody thinks otherwise I don’t know what they are smoking.

Both OSU, SC will continue to be big time teams vying for the top recruits across the nation. As long as we have LR and his ability to draw top skill playmakers n Qb’s, I will put my trust in LR. We will shock all haters moving forward we will have DC’s having nightmares wondering how are we going to cover all that size, speed, athleticism, physicality nobody. Next year we are going to beat the crap out of the Big, even with a new QB. Our defense will be a lot better. With or without Grinchy these new talents will overcome his coaching IQ. I’m just speaking from what I see moving forward we will be back on top in the next year or 2.

Jimbo Fischer has to prove he can win in the SEC. Lincoln Riley has to prove he can coach a conference winner into USC and compete for a national championship. I just don’t think Jimbo can make a difference in such a loaded conference, especially with Oklahoma and Texas joining. It makes sense to target A&M players since they’ll transfer if the program falls apart. And with Bobby Petrino, who would stab Jimbo in the back to become head coach, that is a real possibility.
