A Breathless Look At USC Basketball

Jon Rothstein went to USC basketball practice yesterday and he was predictably breathless from what he observed.

Example No. 1.

This analysis would be a lot easier to take if not for what I’ve warned about before.

  • He seems to suck up endlessly to the USC coaches, who like to leak schedule details to him. Keep that in mind. His priority is to curry favor with coaches. Hence why he was at practice Tuesday.
  • The guy sells T-shirts like this so it’s in his interest to promote USC.

In other words, the Costanza approach…the opposite of everything Wolf does. 😉

  2. It’s hard for Scott to kiss-up to the coaches
after they have kissed him off

And some guy is promoting USC to make money.
    What a novel idea.
Thank God Wolfie is aloof to such low-brow behavior

  3. The basketball program is kind of like the football program. They have plenty of talent they just don’t develop it.

    1. Funny, that was Micks philosophy this post season. He threw a center out there who couldn’t dunk. Seriously, the skinny kid with the dreads had wide open rims and couldn’t dunk. He was only in to get his 5 fouls in and get out.

  5. SC has always had more in sports than football. They have dozens of championships in baseball, track, tennis, swimming, etc… and dozens and dozens of Olympic athletes that have won medals. The basketball program has always been good, just not great like those other sports.
the wolfs pet peeves drive his bitterness, but we can live with that…every once in a while he actually posts articles worth reading w/out him showing this bitterness.

  6. Scooter,

Just like usual, SC basketball will implode. First round busts. I have seen it too many times. The only time it did anything was with Bibby. Even though he was a tough cookie, he did get the team to play and go far in the playoffs.
