USC Morning Buzz: Forget About NFL Futures

I’m pretty tired of seeing stories about next year’s NFL Draft and Caleb Williams. What matters is how many games USC wins this season. Not when Williams gets drafted.

  • Who is a Trojan? Here’s one to ponder: Is Kevin Porter of the Houston Rockets a Trojan?

He played 21 games out of 33 his lone season at USC and averaged 9.5 points per game. My verdict: No. Not enough time. And never established a connection with the fans, university.

  1. Scott, it’s laughable that you say people are not Trojans. For more years than I can recall, you have gone out of your way to voice grievance after grievance with USC and anything related to it. Based on your own bias, you’re not a Trojan

Unlike you, Cowardly Gaby, Scott graduated from USC.

  2. Also interesting how Wolf ponders whether a one-time student at USC is a Trojan while chastising us about thinking of a true hero, “Celeb’

    1. It claps Scott’s ass that USC is back to national relevance and Caleb is the darling of college football.

  3. I was going to ask Kevin Who? Basketball isn’t a sport taken seriously at USC. Maybe if Kevin donated a building he could become a Trojan

  4. Wolfe, once again you are being your typical hater ass this morning in the City of Angels. Whether they stay one semester or 4 years, they are Trojans. Just because they were not your favorite, that doesn’t make them not a true Trojan. I know what it is your angry because you were not blessed with the talent or physical and mental ability to play all 3 major sports on the professional level. So you hate on all USC adm, coaches and players, who have more natural ability than you. Hey Wolfe go see a phycharist for your mental health issues. I know go ask Fake Gabby for Advice, ask him/her how did they overcome their issues. #FightOnTakeMentalIllnessSeriouslyItsNotAJokeJustAskDonaldTrump

      1. Ask paranoid schizophrenic Cowardly Gabby, she and her heroes Senile Joe and Hunter Biden are experts in the non-treatment of mental illness. We all know and thank God that wanna be Cowardly Gabby is no Trojan.

Look at Cowardly Gabby’s hero, the laughingstock of the world!

  6. Williams is one member of the team, so the number of games they win is not ALL on his shoulders. Actually, his play will be predictably great, so to go undefeated, it lies on the shoulders of the o-line and d-line and linebackers.

USC needs a more consistent short yardage run game, which is all about the o-line. They need a better front 7.

    That isnt about CW.

  7. Deciding on who’s a Trojan and who isn’t one appears to be an elitist endeavor. If Wolf would decide who’s the more noble Trojan then I would pay attention to his rants and base cravings for relevance. Otherwise, it’s another get off my lawn postings of a lunatic. Which appears to be par for the course of this blog.

  8. By the way, last year USC’s two deep on the defensive line was Tuipolatu at 260 lbs, Tau’fo’ou at 260 lbs, Benton at 265 lbs, Taleni at 250 lbs, Pili at 320 lbs, Barquet at 265 lbs, Sekona at 265 lbs, Figuerora at 250 lbs, Byrd at 250 lbs and Foreman at 245 lbs.

This year’s 2 deep on the defensive line is Alexander at 325 lbs, Barrs at 300 lbs, Sullivan at 300 lbs, Lucas at 280 lbs, Tau’fo’ou at 275 lbs, Benton at 280 lbs, Taleni at 270 lbs, Tuliapupu at 250 lbs, Thompkins at 260 lbs, and 2 freshmen in Greene and Lafitte who will play and get snaps that they didn’t have last year. Plus Muhammed, Foreman and a full year of Romello Heights.

Alex Grinch has no excuses this year. Last year? No first rounders. This year? He has two in Alexander and Lucas. Only a moron could mess this up. Since he’s a safety’s coach, he should challenge Nua to get the best out of those two and adding two SEC coaches as evaluators should get more out of this defense.

  9. CW does not have to worry about when he’s going to be drafted, but only where. Some teams are reliably stinky year after year no matter what they do in the draft. In a lot of ways, the longer he stays on the board the better the team he will go to, and that’s huge. He obviously has the ability but he’s going to need a line to block, athletes to throw and hand off to. The teams with the earliest picks lack those aspects of their offensive game. CW is going to get a ton of money from football and more from the media because of his charisma. I’ve never met him but I think he’s great because he’s shared some great experiences with his offensive linemen like the trip to New York and the special game at Dodger Stadium.

    1. Caleb is a very humble and grounded young man. Bringing his O-line with him and then giving them a shout-out in front of a national audience was truly inspiring. His entire speech was great.

  10. I agree, Porter was a huge waste of time and I remember there were at least a couple losses where he was the direct cause.
