We are 24 hours from my least favorite day of the year: Pac-12 media day.
I didn’t like it when it was it was held at a hotel near LAX; or at tourist traps (Universal Studio, Sony Pictures Studios, Hollywood and Highland); or in Las Vegas.
It’s always the same. A preseason poll where the favorite is picked to win the conference; a commissioner’s statement that says next to nothing and then coaches/players file in to talk about how great their teams will be this season.
A few months from now, a different picture usually emerges from the optimistic projections about each team.
This year’s Pac-12 media day had a chance for some real news: A TV rights deal announcement. But the conference leaked to reporters Tuesday that no deal would be struck by Friday or announced.
That means George Kliavkoff will likely have a bland opening statement as the conference tries to “focus on football.”
USC will dominate media day with its marquee names (Lincoln Riley, Caleb Williams) but it will also be conducting business in Las Vegas without an athletic director. How’s that search going?

I saw Scott trying to get interviews with players after a game as they left the locker room. Every single player blew him off. Scott had a soiled soccer jersey on, pants that didn’t fit. IMO he looked homeless
