Pac-12 Media Day/Friday Column Supplement

A memorial service for running back C.R. Roberts will be held at USC’s Tutor Campus Center (TCC 450) on Saturday, August 4th at 10 a.m. A reception will be held at 11:30 a.m.

  • The USC-Oregon game at Autzen Stadium on Nov. 11 is sold out.
  • Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff didn’t say anything newsworthy at media day.

But he did repeat the emerging spin that new suitors are suddenly courting the Pac-12.

“The longer we wait for our media deal the better our options are,” he said.

There was an awkward moment when he said, “We’re not announcing the media deal today on purpose because I want the focus to be on football.”

A reporter asked if that meant a deal was done and the Pac-12 was just waiting to announce it.

“I think you’re reading too much into that,” Kliavkoff said.

  • Among the reporters asking questions at Pac-12 media day was Eric Lambkins, one of two USC students charged with stealing jerseys at the NFL Draft.
  • The SEC preseason poll had 11 of the 14 teams receive first-place votes. Five credentialed media members voted for Vanderbilt to win the conference.

    1. It wasn’t his fault – (Kliavkoff) he in fact may turn into a decent commissioner and I sense would have been an outstanding one if that ‘blank’ Larry Scott hadn’t done his own version of ‘woke’ by carving up the annual pie ‘evenly’ amongst all 12 Pac12 schools while ensconced in palatial surroundings and traveling as if he was a potentate.

No, it’s a shame what’s happening today to this once proud ‘Conference of Champions’ and all because of that louse Larry Scott.

      1. If I had been making Larry Scott millions I too would have been ensconced in the Seychelles and Maldives surfing and dining as only a potentate can

      1. my pick for the pac-12 championship game is USC vs Oregon State. I would LOVE to see two undefeated Pac-12 teams go at it in the title game. if the Pac-12 had appreciated USC, the future of the Pac-12 would be looking pretty bright.

i liked how Riley reminded the Pac-12 how important USC is. I think it was a bit of a jab at the history between USC and the Pac-12 leadership.

  3. So, the jerseys thief has moved on. Can you? I know this guy soiled himself in the living room of your former stomping ground, you can’t put a cork back in that bottle. Move on Scott

  4. The SEC poll reminds me of the media covering for the left. What they will do with that poll is use it to say what a strong conference they have, that nobody comes close. Same old bullshit the media, ncaa, and SEC have used ever since Pete left for the pros. The biggest threat to the SEC is USC coming back into power, and I do believe they will do everything in their power to derail USC.

    1. Absolutely agree. SEC is king at making themselves look good beforehand, and finagling the schedule to pump up everyones records, so anything negative that happens can be attributed to: “oh, look how good we are; things are so tough in this conference.”
