The 2021 USC Ladies of Troy team that finished 4-8 gave up fewer yards per game than last years ‘Ol Mule Shoe/Alex Grinch coached team.
Last season Grinch’s crap defense routinely gave up over 500+ yards a game.
Tulane, Utah (twice), UCLA, Cal, Arizona, all torched Grinch’s pathetic defense for well over 500 yards.
Stanford, Fresno St. and Notre Dame over 400+ yards of offense.
That 4-8 2021 USC team might have given up 500 yards, maybe twice.
And remember, ‘Ol Mule Shoe and his boyfriend Alex Grinch brought in defensive players from the portal that were supposed to be better than the players they replaced, the ones they sent packing.
Shit, right now I would take Clancy Prendergast as the Ladies of Troy defensive coordinator over that clown Alex Grinch.

Their scholarship is still valid. They can attend school tuition free. Changed that a few years back. Twenty years ago the player was out if the coach cut him.

You clueless know it all!!!!….The scholarship is valid only for the semester in which the player enters the portal. After the semester has ended the school is under no obligation to offer an athlete the remainder of the scholarship if he decides to remove himself from the portal. The school can offer the schoolship to another player after the semester has ended if it chooses to.

The NCAA’s transfer portal policy has transformed the landscape for student athletes seeking greener pastures. It works like this: Student athletes can now enter the portal and ask to change colleges. When they do that, their school has the right to rescind or reduce their scholarship, even if they don’t leave.

Per the LA Times, in 2011, Pat Haden initiated a policy wherein all football players are given a 4 year scholarship. You can not be cut by the coach after the first year and lose your scholarship.

Nope, it basically turns into a non-sports scholarship that the NCAA doesn’t recognize as part of the 85 total count. But any walk-on player who “earns” a scholarship won’t receive that aid until the end of the season. By the way, that #42 nobody that Wolf thinks won’t matter is a preferred walk-on. USC has had success with that in the past with those types of students.

What would happen if the fifty plus players that Colorado cut decided to stay at Colorado rather than transfer. Colorado is responsible for paying for their scholarships. And they would also have to pay for the 50 players who replaced them. I have to think that the university President is not all that happy with coach Sanders over this mess.

Athletic scholarships are year to year. The players can have their scholarship terminated at the end of the 2022-2023 school year. No scholarship at the D1 level is longer the 1 year.

What’s the argument? George wanted to know if the guys leaving or entering the portal count of no school picks them up? They don’t but they players switch to an academic scholarship. I saw it happen last year to somebody I know plays at a Div. 1 school.

But that’s only at the school’s discretion…not mandatory. The school has three options at the end of the semester, give you nothing, offer an academic scholarship (to free up a football scholarship), or continue to keep you on the team as a scholarship player. The player wants option #4, a free ride to another school via the portal.

Well USC doesn’t want the reputation of a school that takes scholarships away from players to make room for others. Colorado saw other players avoid them and some transfers left after showing up at the school. Pepe, Barquet and Sekona still count until the coach says they aren’t coming back. Then, if they are portal, the scholarship will change to academic if not picked up. NCAA let’s the NCAA Clearinghouse know about the conversion and USC will have until next semester to sit on the open spots. It will count this year if they pass the aid next semester. Makes more sense to wait until next spring to offer the extra spots.
