USC holds it own media day on Friday minus a couple people you might have heard of named Lincoln and Caleb.
I guess the idea is those two deal with the media enough so they don’t need to attend media day. OK.
These are the offensive linemen who will attend: Justin Dedich, Jarrett Kingston, Jonah Monheim, Emmanuel Pregnon, Gino Quinones and Michael Tarquin.
That’s six linemen for five spots. Three are transfers. Between injuries and game rotations, all six should get to play plenty.
Here’s who I expect to start:
- LT 71 Michael Tarquin
- LG 70 Emmanuel Pregnon
- C 57 Justin Dedich
- RG 52 Jarrett Kingston
- RT 79 Jonah Monheim
Right now, there are still questions regarding the line. But it has a huge advantage, which is the elusiveness of Caleb Williams.

Gino is going to start, because he has a better knowledge of protections and works with Dedich better. The other guy is still raw and needs practice. He may end up at tackle if injuries take a toll. That (and Grinch) may be the only thing that prevents USC from going undefeated.

elijah paige will be a great back-up for left tackle and could even push for playing time this year. he is a definite starter next year. usc has positional versatility with kingston, but not great depth of players that can compete for reps.

Breaking News: Lakers will now be able sign Bron to a new deal with ownership potential. Bronny will not play for USC this year, and declare for draft anyway. I always try to make it something I love doing — like walks on the beach …. or on the local golf course after hours [until I get kicked off] …or, if I’m feeling frisky, 15 minutes on the heavy bag… in 3 minute intervals…..and I always remember what Jiminy Cricket said on the old Mickey Mouse Club, “never exercise until you’ve waited one whole hour after a meal.”

Well my nephew plays basketball professionally overseas and he had an enlarged heart which was caused some problems with his arteries in his heart and led to heart arrhythmia. He had a surgery to correct the issue and went back to playing. This was before the pandemic. Because of social media, we’re hearing about more athletes having this issue, but it’s been known in the sports medicine community for a while after the Hank Gathers situation. Hopefully, they can get to the bottom of this and Bronny can come back to playing again.

The biggest change in the US with athletes and their hearts from 5 years ago is the amount of super-processed food and lectins. That’s why Tom Brady has been able to play in the NFL past the age of 43. He changed his diet and exercise routine to get more longevity and probably could have played until he was 50 if Gisele would have allowed it. And that other thing may be involved.

He can mostly limit that exposure by hitting the turf earlier on those frequent scramblers — but you can only do that if you see the tackle coming. I worry about him being blindsided.

Every time he leaves the pocket I am holding my breath. “ok, you got the first down now get out of bounds”….nope!….he goes for another 5 or 10 yards and rarely slides. You’re absolutely right, a blind hit could end it all, especially when your body is not bracing for the impact. A leg injury(knee) is what worries me the most.
