USC Has First Official Practice

USC held its first practice this morning and Lincoln Riley summed it up as I would:

“120 teams practice, 120 teams have great first days,” he said.

  • Defensive tackle Bear Alexander has a minor soft tissue injury and did not practice.
  • Offensive lineman Manasse Itete officially decommitted from USC today and is expected to commit to Florida State tomorrow.
  • Riley on Alex Grinch: “He’s a really good coach.”
  • Offensive analyst Kliff Kingsbury attended his first practice.

      1. Comment didn’t take; try it again
George, 15-0 is greedy; how about 14-1
as long as the one loss is not the last game

  1. Wiley said Grinch is “a really good coach.”– So why all the beef?
Well, Wiles, it might have to do with being nearly last in defense in ’22

And the Georgia Bear is hurt before stepping on the practice field,
which ties the record for quickest Trojan to get hurt

    1. Riley on Alex Grinch: “He’s a really good coach.”

That clown Alex Grinch isn’t worth a shit! Motherfucker is dumb as a box of rocks.

After that humiliating loss to Tulane in the Cotton Bowl, USC DL Tuli Tuiapoopoo or whatever her name is, was upset as she was talking to a reporter and stated that the Ladies of Troy defense sucked because Grinch had them playing out of position, had called the wrong defensive alignments throughout the game. Basically Tuli said that Grinch didn’t know what he was doing.

‘Ol Mule Shoe knows that his boyfriend Alex Grinch has no business being a waterboy, let alone a coach, but the heart wants what the heart wants and ‘Ol Mule Shoe can’t bear the thought of not having Alex Grinch by his side.

  3. the bear had no spring practice and is injured before the start of July 28 practice…SC bsktbl has another freshman get a heart attack as practice starts…does this happen to others regularly?

    1. Really disappointing that the Bear came up lame. Was hoping that he would be a leader and leaders need to demonstrate an exceptional work ethic. The last big time player that I remember taking spring off and then fall under dubious reports of injury was Korey Foreman. Yikes.

This sounds like when Rory McIlroy was injured playing soccer with his pals and missed the British Open.

    1. Yes, according to the VP “most” of us are only $400 away but I can’t think of a single politician or even a government worker who is a member of this group. Hell, In & Out Burger now starts at $22 per hour. And BTW, if this is true, I don’t think Bidenomics is doing quite as well as some would have you believe. “Most” is a lot of people in a 330 million population.

      1. She made a stupid point. She’s a politician. It shows how out of touch the Administration is. They’re so focused on winning they’ve forgotten how to stay in touch with reality. But she’s the Vice President and I’ve never understood why so many people are interested in what this VP says when no one can remember a damn thing Mike Pence ever said in four year.

      2. Trump wasn’t elected with the plan of pushing him out shortly thereafter. Biden was.

But once they realized how useless she was, they couldn’t do it. (Best insurance policy ever for Joe.) NOW, with him claiming he’s going to run again, everyone knows darn well there is a very good chance he won’t make it to the end of second term. So you’d better believe people want to know who’s a heartbeat away from the Presidency this time!

People have always said that no one votes based on the VP. But in 2024, IF (big IF) Joe actually runs, you’d better believe they will be thinking about it.

Sure they did. In Poli Sci they call it “Balancing the ticket” : To pick a vice-presidential candidate who represents a different constituency than the presidential candidate.

Why do you think the Deep South Democrats heartily supported Massachusetts Yankee JFK in 1960?

        LBJ was the VP…

      6. LOL! On average, U.S. presidents are 55 years old when sworn in.

Anyone who doesn’t think Biden’s running mate will be on the minds of voters is clueless. He would be 82 IF he were inaugurated for a second term.

Not only do we currently have the first President EVER elected while already suffering from dementia. He would be the oldest President ever elected.

        It WILL be considered.

    2. No, she is not.

But her remarks are a far cry away from Joe’s claims (and a couple of blog posters) that “Bidenomics” are doing wonders for the American people.

      1. Again, politicians lie. That’s why many Americans don’t vote or are leaving both parties in droves. They care about the top 3% wealthiest Americans. Having a conniption every 5 seconds about what any of these people do is counterproductive. I’d personally rather see more discussion about Oregon’s impending banishment from the college football playoffs when the Pac 9 loses it’s automatic bid.

    1. The sole repository of credible programs left to merge with are in the ACC. Both coats need each other desperately to survive which brings up ‘the princess’ – if the ACC does crater then what about the Irish strength of schedule considering they play 5 – 6 games from ACC opponents and ‘legoland’ out here as well as one of the Pac Northwest schools.

Kliavkoff be best served approaching whomever per the Tv contract with ACC together to force a better deal for both from the networks. His current solo approach is not working i.e still has no deal. Then again 9it may turn into a blessing that he is still looking and being forced to offer terms to the ACC to survive because if not San Diego St., SMU and UNLV are not going to add any respect – an ACC deal would.

      1. ACC is locked into an unfavorable contract with ESPN through 2036. 7 leading schools are talking joint max exodus which would essentially dissolve the conference and nullify any contract penalties.

  4. The always pro-SC George Tirebiter’s 15-0 prediction got me thinking-

    San Jose St Win
    Nevada Win
    Stanford Win
    at Arizona St Win
    at Colorado Win
    Arizona Win
    at Notre Dame ?
    Utah ?
    at Cal Win
    Washington ?
    at Oregon ?
    sucla?

    Pac-12 Championship ?
    “Final-4” semifinals?
    Final-4 Finals ?

That is a light 6-0 to begin the season
but the final 6 games sans Cal are all questionable

  5. You don’t hear much about Stanford and Cal. I believe that Stanford has one of the best athletic programs when you include the minor sports and especially women’s sports. Nobody seems to be actively courting them. I suppose the perception that these two school don’t care much about football has become the reality. I mean hiring the San Jose coach for football, c’mon.

  6. Losing Itete brings questions to my mind. There’s got to be money involved. This happened overnight. He’s a california kid. What could make him want to bail out so quickly and go across the country to Florida. Florida State is going after the other 4 star O-Lineman Jason Z. I hope they don’t get him too.
Maybe we should just let him go. I’m sure SC gave him a pretty good NIL deal. If he’s willing to leave just for a little more money, maybe he’s not what SC wants. I would think that SC wants people who want to be a trojan and are not just playing for money.

  7. The Ladies of Troy defense being put in the hands of Grinch, Nua and Donte Williams is a complete shit show!

‘Ol Mule Shoe thinks it’s cute and or funny that he keeps being questioned about the competency of his defensive coaching staff. Asked again today after practice about his confidence level in Grinch, it was sickening to hear him try and claim Grinch is a “really good coach”, as if anyone hearing that bullshit statement is going to believe it, he couldn’t even say it with a straight face

  8. USC beat Cal last year by one score. The game was at USC. The Cal lineup was basically all sophomores who are now juniors. Cal will be off bye. USC will be in the middle of a horrible final six.
    We’ll see.

    1. That is a wonderful post. Problem is, you think the quarterback will play better than Plummer? Or that losing 6 starters to the portal won’t affect the team? Or that this team will be competent on offense? Maybe you have a point on that one.
