Training Camp Vital For USC Defensive Line

You can have a bunch of talented players but if they don’t work together it won’t lead to success in football.

So this is why training camp is important for the defense, in particular the defensive line where there is ability but still question marks.

Bear Alexander is currently out with a soft tissue injury but expected back soon. Let’s hope so because he’s a big guy and they often need camp to get into top shape.

Maybe it’s a mixed blessing he is out early because USC needs to get some other transfers up to speed like Kyon Barrs, Jack Sullivan and Anthony Lucas. Plus Tyrone Taleni is back after being effective in a limited role last season.

Who emerges from this group and whether they can replace Tuli Tuipulotu will be an issue early.

Training camp is also important for freshman Sam Greene, who was impressive in the spring game. Alex Grinch needs to develop guys like Greene if he wants to see real improvement in the defense.

USC needs to improve players. Last season, it seemed to rely on ability with its defense. But who got better?

    1. LMFAO!

Maybe if that idiot Donte Williams had the Ladies of Troy practice tackling players in practice instead of tackling a foam wheel those girls would be able to tackle during games

    1. Yeah, which USC defensive coach has a track record of developing players?

Grinch, Nua, Donte Williams? Nope, none of those clowns.

There might be a few players that have played for those idiot’s that made it to the next level, but they sure as hell didn’t make it there due to any of their coaching, they made it in spite of their coaching.

    1. Gad, don’t remind me, George. I was on the “cat-walk” twice and refused to go out anymore and that was the end of my modeling ‘career”

I am afraid the only thing ‘defensive’ about Grinch is his reaction to any criticism about his defense
The big question is can he replace Tuli

  3. Soft tissue injury? Is that a pain in the butt?
I wonder sometimes if the portal isn’t a curse? With so many prima donnas collected on one team, a balance between egos and talent must be hard to maintain. Over time cracks may show up. So we’re these players moving on their own or were they sent? Maybe Kingsbury ‘s experience with pro players will be helpful. If they don’t buy into the future we’re stuck in the past.
