George Kliavkoff Said He Will Not Resign

Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff told the San Jose Mercury-News he had no intention to resign.

“I’m loyal to a fault (and probably to my personal detriment). Had plenty of chances to leave over the past two years when the breadth of the challenges were already obvious and decided to stick it out and try to do the best I could. We still have a lot of work ahead of us to try and minimize the impact on the student athletes, and I’m still committed to that.”

He “decided to stick it out” for $3.5 million per year to “try to do the best I could.”

This was his best? The destruction of the Pac-12. The outrageous comments about how he was going to get a good TV rights deal. He’s delusional.

  • The ACC will hold exploratory talks tomorrow on the potential addition of Cal and Stanford, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.
  • The University of California Board of Regents will convene in closed session tomorrow to discuss Cal’s future.

  1. “Say it ain’t so, Joe,” err George
You are not really going to continue to wreck the Pac-12 are you?
O is your wife pressuring you “to stay the course” with the 3.5 mil per
so she can get her hands on that $10 million Palo Alto homestead?

    1. I’m so angry with George K that I may need to include him in my next bit of homoerotic literature. That’s what happens when you cross me!!!

  2. There are at least 3-things I don’t trust in life-
    The stock market
    Opposing drivers and
Football game outcomes– Recall that SC skipped Ore and Wa in 2022
and sucla has the same schedule in ’23. Can they do anything with it?

    1. Yeah, I’ve often laughed at people who claim they don’t gamble.

Oh really! Every day you trust a little paint on the highway to keep that car (or worse, big rig) on the other side of the road.

The demented weirdo Cowardly Gabby aka TebowObama has figured out a way to impersonate anyone on the board. He did it to Plow Horse and I suspect he did it to Cal75 yesterday.

  3. Scooter,

If there are only four teams left in the Pac 12, don’t the schools have the right to sue the commissioner for breach of contract, not keeping the conference together, and other legal stuff?

    Michael and LJ,

I know, my legal and skilled writing showed as an attorney. LOLOLO

  4. Scooter,

If there are only four schools left, and if I were one of them, I would tell the commsissoner that since the Pac 12 has been reduced to 66%, then his pay will be reduced by 66% making it $1,155,000 or even less.

  5. Scooter,

Since SC, ugly, washingotn, and whoregone are joing the B1G conference, will they have the bragging rights to saying that their conference has won the most championships in the nation? Uglies 10-11 bought basketball championships should be eliminated though and not count. So will the Conference of Champions, the Pac4 claim the most or will the B1G decalre the winner? We gots to know.

  6. ACC? Really? Why piss off Clemson and Florida St with reduced payouts and more costs to add two BAD programs with dry fan bases that TRADITIONALLY don’t travel? For academic reasons?!?!!! ACC really trying to take the place of the PAC#?

  7. GREAT message for the kids from George…No matter how tough things get, I’m willing to “stick it out to try to do the best I could.” All that for only $291,667 per month. That’s what I call character! See what happens when the parasites kill the host. I hope Larry Scott chokes on the $50MM he stole from the Pac12 and the other $50-100MM++ that he wasted. Disgusting!!!

  8. The “other shoe” to drop is the 5 Bowl Games that have (had) PAC-12 affiliations are now considering negotiations with other conferences. In the end, it all comes down to revenue and this should not be a shock

  9. The people that really deserve the blame are the Pac-12 presidents/administrators. They hired Kliavkoff. They hired Larry Scott. In many ways, these idiots got what they deserve.

  10. My first impression of not quitting was too late they quit you. But honestly everyone is forgetting this season (or farewell tour as many are calling it)
The whole mess could have been avoided if the league had been running correctly. If the school presidents had looked for an experienced person to run the conference, or someone who at least knew the value of the teams, this might have been different.
I saw a post of USC’ record against the B1G and it’s impressive. They have a winning edge over the entire league including the Johnny come latelys.
But the writing was on the wall when George took over. He’s still trying to figure out where the ponies fit into the sports programs.
    Sorry George, not sorry

  11. GK, have you been talking to fake Gabby you have no teams to Commish? Stop smoking tea leaves, it’s bad for your brain. What’s left of it, and now, it just torn down the former prestige conference (aka) RIP “Conference of Champions “
