Will Ferrell (or is that Clancy Pendergast?) showed up at USC practice yesterday in an Under Armour pullover. That will rankle some of the lemmings at USC, for sure, because USC is a Nike school.
- USC used to produce a weekly TV series that aired Sunday nights on Channel 4 in Los Angeles.
The show was called “Halls of Science” and featured a different professor each week from a field of science. KNBH orignally stood for NBC Hollywood before it became KNBC.
It’s weird to think USC made a TV show in 1953 but not 2023, especially with all the resources it has with the School of Journalism.

Maybe USC’s Larry Smith did not get his due– he did play ND in a losing champinship game in 1988 (although the Trojans then went on to lose to Michigan in the Rose Bowl), and he then turned around and beat Michigan with his 1989 team (1990 Rose Bowl).
I saw him once and told him, “Thanks for bringing SC back,” as it had been 10-years since SC was in a championship game

He was head coach until 1992… Smith caused further furor after the game in declaring: “Names and logos don’t mean anything. You don’t beat someone just because of your name and logo.” Within days of the Freedom Bowl loss and his commentary, Smith was fired by USC with three years left on his contract.
