USC named its team captains for the season and it’s a big group.
QB Caleb Williams; OT Jonah Monheim; C Justin Dedich; LB Shane Lee and LB Mason Cobb will be captains.
Normally, only four players are captains. Monheim is the most important lineman and Dedich was a captain last season so they avoided a tough choice.
Lee was a captain last season and might not start with Cobb the go-to linebacker. So the coaches kept Lee as a captain to avoid creating any morale problems while at the same time noting the obvious, that Cobb is the guy.

LR, Y, not C. Bullock, instead of Mason Cobb? I’m kinda scratching my head, I know he is a good player. Bullock has been there 3 years n has proven himself on the field n off. I just want them to ball out no matter who is the captain is. Just looking at the talent on defense. We have a 2 n 3:depth at position such as WR, RB, QB, DL LB, SS. CB, FS, NC OL, kinda worries me if starters go out with a major injuries. The reason I’m concerned for FS if Bullock goes down, will Branch, Pierce be really ready in crunch time to perform? Will Wallace be able to handle NB after playing CB for years? The same goes for all above mentioned. 6 Days go. Fight On stay safe n dry remove all furniture off balconies load up on water batteries charge up phones. I’m in the Hawthorne area the wind is howling. This rain is getting heavier as of 8:21 PST.

Thanks MG, I don’t think the extra weight will make a difference only if Gentry can’t use his lower body to drive through the ball carrier n tackle or shed blocks. We have bodies but will they make a difference when needed in Grinchy 4th quarter?

Consider that extra weight is probably all muscle, which helps take the load off of the bones and joints. Gentry will be okay if his ankle get healed well.
