USC Notes: A Suggestion For Next Pre-Game

USC’s first three home games had the following lead the team out of the tunnel: Terrell Thomas, Cheryl Miller and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Has it occurred to USC to reach out to some players from the past like Don Mosebar, Bruce Matthews, Roy Foster or Keith Van Horne? Rod McNeil deserves it too. A lot of former players do. Right now it sort of feels if you didn’t play in the Pete Carroll era or the recent past, the athletic dept. doesn’t know who you are.

  • If USC ever does another Hall of Fame, I bet they find a way to include Allyson Felix. Now that I know Phil Hill, who won a Formula One world championship is a Trojan, shouldn’t he get included too? Hill and Felix each competed in the same number of events for USC: Zero.
  • Who didn’t play is often more interesting than who did in blowouts. Freshman offensive lineman Amos Talalele did not play against Stanford. Is he hurt? Who knows? Lincoln Riley doesn’t like to talk about injuries.
  • Former USC pitcher Kyle Hurt has been called up by the Dodgers. Hurt was a fifth-round pick of the Florida Marlins in 2020. Hurt had a 3.87 ERA and 145 strikeouts in 88.1 innings in the minors this year.

  4. How about Troy Polamalu leading us out of the tunnel. Or the Matthew boys – Chip, Bruce, and Clay. As long as it’s not Haden, Swann, or OJ, in that order.
